How do you dress up a hotdog? Let's talk toppings.

Today I had to break my diet and have a hotdog. Definitely an Oscar Meyer hotdog, smothered with pickle relish, chilli, diced onions, sour cream and anything else that contained tomatos from the fridge! Even a little Pico De Gallo. I figured, why not? If you're going to splurge, then why not go all out. How about you? How do you dress up a hot dog? Do you prefer to keep things simple or do you go all out and pile on everything?

Mayonnaise and ketchup will do. I'd prefer to make it simple so as not to wash away the original taste of the hotdog.

I guess a person could use the mayo on the hotdog itself as a topping. That could be pretty good. Guess I wouldn't have thought of that. Mostly we put the mayo on the bread and then put the ketchup and other toppings on the hotdog.

Oh now mayonaise sounds interesting, I would never have thought to put that on a hotdog AND with tomato sauce would be a taste sensation. This one I have to try!

I like sour crout, cheese, relish, and ketchup. That's it! I don't much much on my hot dog. I like my hot dog to be very well done and maybe a little burnt even. My bun has to be very fresh though, if not I won't eat.

I thought I was the only one who did the burnt hot dog! For me, they have to be slightly overdone or I can actually taste the hotdog skin. Yuck!

When I do eat hot dogs, if I have all the trimmings I like them with chilly, onions, ketchup, and mustard. But when I don't have the dressings I will settle for ketchup and mustard if that is all that I have on hand at the time.

Oscar Meyer Hot dogs with cheese are one of my favorites . I am very boring when it comes to jazzing mine up . I do like chillie and cheese on mine and like them grilled . I sometimes will put mustard on mine and well that is it .

I love some chili and cheese on my hot dog. Not to big on piling anything else on it. But lots of cheese and chili is great. Might have to have some tonight lol.

My idea of a hot dog! - I actually prefer mine grilled, nearly burned (over an open fire--now THAT'S tasty!) and only mustard on it. No ketchup, no relish, no onions! Blech! I'm not even a fan of a boiled one in a pot--grilled all the way baby!
I'm easy...just burn it on the grill (the blacker, the better!) and give me some good mustard and I'm good to go! I don't like ketchup, relish, onions or anything else that I've watched my dad pile on his over the years--no wonder he was eating Tums like candy! Yeesh! I did eat them raw as a kid--I don't know what I was thinking!

What on earth were we thinking? I really think it's a kid's only thing...my daughter used to LOVE her hot dogs raw, so I made her a deal...I'd nuke them for 10 or 15 seconds, then put them back in a sealed bag in the fridge. That way she got a safe 'cold' dog!

I have to practically beg my daughter not to eat cold hotdogs. Thankfully, she has recently switched back to microwaved hot dogs. I'm just thankful that she agrees to eat!

OMG I never thought of putting Pico de Gallo on it! I'm so doing that tomorrow! Sometimes I'll just have mine plain with ketchup or with some dijon mustard. Other times I havee to have a chili dog or throw some onions and relish on there too. I hated hot dogs for the longest time, like didn't have them from age like 6 until a few months ago again. It's like comfort food, reminds me of family bbq in the back yard and the beach I grew up on. I've been really homesick since I'm 1,500 miles away now so maybe that's why hotdogs are my latest must have food. On whole wheat buns though!

Of course! And that reminds me. Try BBQ sauce on the hotdog. That's tangy!

Here I am imagining a hotdog in fancy dress! I am pretty boring with my hotdogs, I like sauce on the bun first, followed by the frankfurt and then fried onion and melted cheese on top - plain and simple are sometimes the best. A friend of mine likes hers with fruit chutney on it though - wierd taste though!

My kids like them cold straight out of the fridge with nothing on them. I like to nuke mine until they puff up and then eat them plain. No bun or anything most of the time. I will sometimes do a chili cheese dog loaded up with onions too.

I thought that my little girl was the only one who did the raw hotdog thing. Well I guess they are already cooked so they're not raw, but I don't like the idea. Lately she has been asking me to microwave them. Today she turned down her hotdog so I had to buy pizza. I have to go grocery shopping soon!

Question: How on EARTH did you get all that stuff on a hotdog? I would have been in a right mess, it would have gone everywhere! It sound really good though, I have never had loads of things on a hot dog before, the most I have had is relish and maybe some onions. Boring or what?

7-11 has the best hot-dogs on the planet! I get mine with chopped onions, mayo, light mustard, catsup, melted cheese, and sauerkraut. Did I mention there is a hot dog under that mess? Where do you thing the name "HOT DOG" originated from?

I like Ball Park Franks - the beef ones the best or else Nathan's beef hotdogs. When I make them I love them with Hellman's Dijonaise and some chopped onions. My son likes his with ketchup and mustard and one of my daughters loves it with mayonnaise (yuck on a hotdog - yuck!) and the other daughter who is three years old likes them sliced up into coins and dips them in ketchup. Sometimes I like to put chili, cheese, and onions on top too! I've been reading so many different things about hotdogs now that I am craving one!

I love Oscar Myer weiners but can't find them in the stores anymore. I used to buy them and never had a problem with finding them so why can't I find them anymore in the stores here in Alberta, Canada. When I moved back to Winnipeg 2 years ago I looked in the stores there and couldn't find them there either. Do you live in the states and get them there? Are they not available in Canada anymore? Do you know, or any other member here, know where I can buy them? When I have a hotdog I don't put much on it. I like it with just a little mustard and onions but I don't put any relish or ketchup on mine because I don't really care for that stuff. I don't have one very often and never at home. If I do have one it is usually when I am out somewhere, like at Bingo. But even then I don't have one very often as they aren't one of my favourite foods anymore since I can't find Oscar Meyer Weiners.

It's the best! I usually add Louisiana hot sauce to top everything off and sometimes shredded cheddar cheese. But we were out of both. Big tears over that one!
