I only need to lose 15 pounds and I know exercise is probably the best solution, but a friend of mine and I were having this discussion and she thinks drinking water makes you gain weight. We were almost arguing. I'm curious what everyone on mylot thinks.

Increasing your water intake will help you lose weight if you didn't drink a lot of water before. This is because a lot of times someone will think they're hungry and eat something when really they're just thirsty. Also, water has absolutely no calories, while other drinks have a lot more than you think. Of course, water has weight itself and if you drink a gallon and then weigh yourself, you will obviously weigh more. But it will come out, and no weight will be gained. Tell your friend that they're wrong. Water is the most important compound for the body.

Thank you I agree and do think she is wrong. I just hope she hears it from a doctor or some health professional then she will believe it. The thing that bothers me is that she imposes it on people that we were caring for in a group home.

morover I think everyone should be conscious towards one's health. No doubt there are so many kinds of exercises are available to like aerobics, jogging, treadmilling, cycling, swimming, yoga etc.But now-a-days neither one has time to do all such exercises nor they have an attitude to do all such exercises. Also majority of population do not have time for all such types of exercises. So the easiest way of making us fit is to drink lots of water in a day.But you have an confussion whether water helps to reduce weight or not because your freind told you that water do not helps us to reduce our weight. She must be right if she talks about a normal or a cold water but if you drink a warm water then definetely you could reduce your weight very fastly. Also go for one to two hour jogging in the evening .It could do a magic on your body just in a month. So go for warm water therapy right now .I am telling you from my own experience.Believe me. This is the first time i am hearing such preposterous effect on drinking water. There is no way this discussion is true drinking water clears the waste in your throat and stomach. But i t is advised you to take water before and after your meals and is not advised to take water between. This is because the acids in our stomach which are used to digest the food will be diluted and will take time to digest the food inside so if you dont drink any water during your meals the acids stay active and digestion takes plkace early and there will not be any fat accumlated while you rest after you eat :)

This is a true discussion. I guess some people believe that it depletes vitamans in your body. Thanks I agree with you.

The truth is, the less water you drink, the more water you retain (water weight) because your body goes into survival mode and holds water when it doesn't get it on a regular basis. The more water you drink, the less it holds onto and the less water weight you will retain. You could compare it to a camel in the desert, it retains water in it's humps when it only gets water sporadically as opposed to a camel in captivity that more than likely gets water all the time. Hope this helps. Of course drinking water will keep you hydrated for excercise, and that's always a good thing! Happy posting!

Drinking lots of water could be dangerous, it would disturb the balance in our body.. But of course we need water and it might help us to feel less hungry. But a great method is if we avoid sugar, white flour and white rice and all fast carbs. It is a proven way to lose weight and feel better.. ..

Plain ater doesn't have any calories, so you can't gain weight from it, there is nothing in it to convert to fat. Assuming you were properly hydrated before you started dieting, the water itself doesn't really help you lose weight either, except that drinking water before you eat will help you feel full so that you eat less. If you increase you amount of excercising, you should increase you fluid intake as well, so that you do not get dehydrated. Good Luck.

I have never heard of this one. I know a lot of people who wanna loose some weight but to drink a lot of water no i have not heard of that. well what i would seggest is to start with totally cut off all the fat intakes. That would be a start. Eg: bread , rice these are not too good when you wanna redice.

it's become difficult to burn calories if your body is dehydrated.water is one of the most important element if you want to burn fat and lose weight.it's because water helps to increase the metabolism process.if your body is lack of water.it make your body keep toxin in your body.the more toxins in your body the more difficult for you to lose weith! remember,if you don't take enough water.then your body can't burn fat easier. Plain water is not only to quench thirst.but also helps when you feel hungry.do you know that the receptor of thisrt and hungry which have the same function for brain sometimes change from hunger to thirst.because of this same function,it is not wrong if you replace your hunger by taking one or two glasses of plain water. for more easy and simple tips on healthy diet http://healthydiettips.blogspot.com

It can help but IT ISN'T ALL THAT! You still need to have a balance diet, regular exercise and a healthy lifestyle! I wish you good luck and success on your plan to lose weight!

Drinking water is a great way to flush out toxins from you body. Howver, that does not cause to lose weight. Weight loss is the loss of body fat, and consuming water won't do that. And your friend is probably referring to "water weight" which would come along with drinking fluids. But drinking fluids shouldn't make you retain water weight. The way to lose weight, is as you said, eat healthier and exercise

Water leaves the body in the same quantity as it enters. Or you transpire -sweat it out- or you let it go into the toilet. Drinking one or two glasses of water may help you lose weight inasmuch as it can cheat your stomach, giving you a feeling of fullness, this may help you to avoid having a snack between meals. 15 pounds are not much to lose, still, those pounds closer to our ideal weight tend to be more obstinate. Some exercise should be made, not only as a means to look slimmer but because it is healthy all around. Have a good drink!
