Mabuhay! I love watching movie. I watch it deeply. Critizes the visual effect, comment on the concept and story line.... because of this, there are movies that make me think upon watching... i ask myself, what if it is real? what if it happens? what would be my decision, what would be my stand? It's been a global controversy and nationwide issue on us, being the only Catholic country in the Southeast asian, the fact-made fiction in the Da Vinci Code, both in print and visual. I would admit, it shakes my belief as straight Catholic, and I began asking question and seeking answers... In the end, I was enlightened and it only shake my belief, does not break or make it fall.. I am still a full-pledged catholic right now. So, how bout you? what movies made you think upon watching? what happen then? does it change a portion or your whole life? do not worry. i will listen. digerati

Kumusta po! I tend to mix my movies up a little. I too like movies that have a message and make me think also; yet sometimes I like to sit and watch movies where I don't have to think at all and just enjoy them! Movies like "American Beauty" had an effect on me in terms of thinking hard on its message. How many of us live our lives without TRULY being happy for example? Your example regarding the Da Vinci Code is interesting. Having an open mind certainly does NOT undervalue your standing as a Catholic; if anything, it allows you to have a viewpoint that has taken into consideration multiple factors. You are still having the same beliefs as before the movie so if anything, it was a tremendous opportunity for you to back up your faith. This may not be the case with all Catholics who see this movie and maybe it HAS caused some to leave the faith (Which of course is why God gave us free will!); but any medium that sometimes causes someone to question their faith has a good chance of ultimately putting them in a position where their faith actually becomes stronger. Why? Because their questioning causes them to look deeper into areas that they might ordinarily ignore. Salamat po; and I wish you maraming swerte!

Hi there digerati, I love this topic...LOL, I was once also disturbed with what I believe when I saw that movie but it was just up to there, I was able to handle and manage after that! I guess, a lot of Catholic were affected, I remember my friend who stopped going to church after watching that movie too!

i'd like to discuss the Da Vinci Code. i've read the book and didn't pay much attention to the movie as i could already guess what's gonna happen next. anyway, i just would like to share that i am so fascinated by the book and like you i have questions as well. i was raised a Catholic and have long decided to stay on that course for eternity. i am just glad i have read the book coz it gave me the chance to glimpse the other side of our religion. i think the author didn't mean to smear the good name of the Catholic religion. he was just writing a book based on thorough research and laying it out there with, i have to say, solid evidence. but it really doesn't matter what facts are out there. bottom line is religions are basically for the best spititual interests of its members. God might be real or not but what we have to look after is the goodness that we share to our fellowmen to be able to live harmoniously. isn't that our ultimate aim? about movies, i love watching movies. takes my mind off things. i've been watching movies for a long time that i think it's safe to say that i have developed a good taste for it. not any kind of sophisticated effects can sway me from telling if the movie is good or not. i can't really mention a certain movie that makes me think upon things coz there are too many to mention but kudos to moviemakers. you just make my life so much better at times..:)
