Rearranging myself

I have been dying my hair for 16 years, had every colour going I think but for the last two years I have been blonde. It's funny, I always thought it looked alright, quite nice, but then someone I knew did theirs blonde and my goodness it aged her about ten years. I thought to myself "if it makes her look older then I wonder if it makes me look older" see she is dark and looked so young with her dark colour. I am naturally dark too. So this weekend I decided to start stepping back my hair colours and so I have, I have gone a shade darker and so it is still blonde but a nice golden blonde instead of harsh and brassy! I have to do it slowly because from past experience if I go to fast it will go green! My next step is another haircut, and I am going to have about 2 -3 inches off my locks, I have decided how I want it and I am going to do it! So this is me rearranging myself and finding the style that I want and I am quite looking forward to it. When or what is the last drastic thing that you did to your appearance, in order to make a change and rearrange yourself?

ive gone from that light wheat blonde color back to dark.. and it didnt turn green.. it only does that if you get chorine onto blonde hair.. or itll turn red from dark to blonde.. but you should be able to just dump some dark shade onto yer head for a drastic change wthout a problem most drastic ive ever done.. i got tired of eating my hair.. told mal i was gonna wack it all off.. he laughed at me, said id never do it.. that im always threatoning to do it but chicken out and never do.. and since thems be fightin words.. i went into the bathroom.. grabbed the scissors.. and lopped it all off to a short spikey pixie sorta do.. then dyed it. it looked awesome until it started growing back out.. then mal said i looked like two-bit from the outsiders LOL its finally grown out from that and is halfway down my back again, im considering perming it cause i havent in a long time. dunno yet...

Last time I went from blonde to dark it went green! It has also been known to look like I have blue rinsed before now too. Oh and there was the time I went darker and it came out grey! My hair is weird. I love curly hair, do it!! Any sign of a little tessah or Mal yet?

About 8 years ago I cut off my long long hair for should length hair and then about a year later, got it cut shorter than that and I loved it! I got so tired of having long hair which was in my face all the time and being hearing impaired, I could'nt see to hear so it was very frustrating to say the least so off it went and it's stayed off ever since! I might regrow it out to a little past my shoulders but never any longer than that ever again.

Same way here, my mom kept my hair short too and when I got married again at the age of 26 I grew it out which took me about 5 years to do and kept it for 10 and got tired of it and cut it off. lol

I had short hair as a child, due to my mums insistance on it. I grew up and grew my hair and it has never been short since!

I have never done anything with my hair other than to get it cut and styled. I do not have any gray hairs as of yet to make me want to dye it. I have black hair so there is not much I can do with it. I would like to try some highlights on it but I am afraid that it won't look right. I used to always have long hair but I have kept it short for about 3 years now. That was a drastic change for me.

Long to short is a drastic change, I have long hair but although I am going to have it cut shorter it wont be too short.

I actually started styling my hair. Now that may not seem like such a feat but if you knew me, it would be something special. To top that off I retired my 38 jeans to wear a size that actually fits (36) and started wearing polo shirts. What, am going through an early mid life crisis or something? It is pretty neat to try new things and then stand back and go...sweet!

Sounds cool, maybe not a midlife crisis though, just a change in you!

I shaved my beard off to make me look like less of a criminal for a job interview since my friend says he never trusts anyone with a beard because they usually have something to hide. I did not do it because of my friend; I just felt like throwing in that anecdote about his comment. I shaved the beard off because I really did look kinda suspect. Lost the beard and got the job.

Congrats on the job, and losing the beard I bet you look years younger too! x

I dye my hair different colours, whatever applies to me now, but lighter than my own dark brown hair, usually red to blonde as I get older, and I like it and I also hide the gray that way.

I had my mid back length hair cut very short last November. I got comments rather than compliments (which I can understand) my daughter said it was better, I preferred it long. I'm told this short style makes me look younger...I disagree I think it makes me look frumpy and old.

I went from lightish warm red to dark brown a few years ago gemini and I didn't think I would suit it cos I am very pale skinned but I did and it made me look younger! Good Luck and I am glad you are doing it the right way! xxx

Are you sure we're not the same people? LOL! Just yesterday I decided to go back to red. That's a drastic change from my current natural brown hair color. I have been darker brown, natural for awhile. My signature color is red, but I haven't gotten around to doing the color for awhile. It's very expensive upkeep. But the red color flatters my lighter complexion better. And I always get more compliments on my beauty as a red head. Even when I was eight months pregnant with red hair, guys would still check me out. It was too funny. I'm going strawberry blonde, which is lighter than I would usually go. But over my dark brown hair, it won't be so bright. The last big transition that I made was when I became a mommy. At the time, I had racoon hair, part brown roots and red long hair, cause I couldn't dye my hair while I was pregnant. So it grew out and looked weird. But I was pregnant and happy and blissful, so I couldn't have cared less what anyone thought. The only time that I got my hair to dye bright platinum blonde, it washed out my features and made me look very weird! Plus my brown roots showed in less than a week and that was very ugly! My daughter has blonde hair, so I am happy! Thanks for the fun topic! Be well. Have a beautiful Sunday!

I love red hair, I mean really red though. I have had it really red before but it never seems to last long. If I had the guts I would just stick a red on my blonde and see what happens but Im chicken!

That's funny, I am doing the opposite to you. I am trying to go back lighter again. Last year when I was pregnant, must have been hormones or something. But I decided to go back dark haired (natural colour) again after being blonde for 6 years. At first I liked it, now I feel like it is too boring, lol. I liked myself better blonde. I look completely different, some of my friends prefer me blonde some prefer my hair dark. I feel brighter and fresher being blonde. Don't think I will go back to as light as I was thinking more like Beyonce's hair colour with blonde highlights. The problem is it will take me ages to get to that as you don't want to damage your hair going blonde straight away again, so have to do it in stages. I have been getting my mobile hair dresser to do my hair.

That's cool. In my senior year of high school I dyed my hair purple, lol. And I hated it after it was done. I don't even know why I did it. Bad choice and timing. Then the colors started to change because of certain hair products that I use. Then it became rainbow hair, lol. So after that happened I dyed it back. I'm never going there again, lol.

I have also dyed my hair for years, but always kept it a darker shade as my hair was a natural black.. But as the years go by and the new growth is almost white, I am having a very rough time figuring out what do do as far as the coloring goes.. I do need to go lighter, maybe a very light brown or a darker blonde but it is so hard to decide.. I am not ready to go completely white as the darker hair has always made me look a bit younger.. I always try and make it a natural looking black, not an overdone black.. I used to have a neighbor who dyed her hair a jet black color and she was in her 80's, her name was Irene, now if my hair even comes close to getting too black, my husband call it the "reeny" color.. So, I am still working with trying to get the right shade and trying to make the final decision to go lighter, but it is hard for me to make these changes..

I just want a new image now, I am fed up with looking at the same colour and style, I want a whole different style! It is easy once a decision is made, but it has taken me ages to figure it out!

I am not in the habit of rearranging myself. I have never colored my hair - only had highlights in it. I do not wear makeup, and I do not spend much on fashion clothes. I think the most drastic thing I have done is to have my long hair cut quite short on several occasions. The first time wen I was 10, then several times after that. Now it is medium long and very boring.
