Various survey suggest that cellphones are not used in proper sense . The invention of cellphone has led to revolutionary change in communication field .But the youngsters are using cellphones to great extent .Recently doctors all over the world have researched that in past 5 years the ear problem are increased to great extent .So the question lies whether we are using cellphone properly.

I don't know who did the survey but I would disagree that youths using cell phone are causing ear/hearing problems. Before the cell phone craze we all used (including the youths) our land lines at home so there is not much of a difference. Young teens would stay on their house phones for hours chatting with their friends. I also believe if they took a poll of teens to compare voice calls vs texting that texting would be the higher of the two. Now if the survey was talking about a portable media player and listening to music I would then agree because many blast the volume to listen to their music and I know later on in life this generation will have hearing loss and severe problems, that has already been proven by physicians who treat the ear.

You are right but cellphone radiates lot of em waves which are harmful to health .Nowadays we are also hearing that cellphone gets blasted that does not sound good .The invention of cellphone has made us lazy because nowadays we are speaking through cellphone to neighbours.I still have the question are we using cell phones for right purposes.

I agree that studies say it radiates em waves but that is not stopping the general public from using them including physicians who are our health care providers and they are using the phones themselves. I think cellphones are being used for the right purpose - that is communication. I can recall many years ago when cell phones were not around and parents would worry because they had no way of communication with their children, today everyone has access to contact their loved ones and this is very important because of bombings, school shootings, high crime rates and other emergencies that are affecting us every day. Yes I believe we are using cellphones for the right purposes and that is having the ability to contact our family and friends. At one time I felt different but as times have changed now I see cells as a necessity and not a luxury anymore.

Properly? That would be subjective, don't you think? I bristle at the thought of anybody telling me how I should or should not use my cell phone. I don't care who somebody thinks they are, *I* don't tell anybody how to or how not to use their cell phone, it isn't my business. Therefore I would not take very kindly to anybody doing the same to me. As far as the hearing loss issue, people can certainly turn down the volume on their phone or on their earpiece or headset if they are concerned about it. A cell phone is a personal item, and thus the use of it is up to the individual. As far as I know, there are no rules for using it, I'll risk any issues people think there are for enjoying technology.

Hi gopi, welcome to mylot and have the best stay here. I have the same opinion that some people are using cellphones so much and without sense. I have notice that some times people are next to the other and call then with cellphone. Why? It doesn't make sense, don't you think so? It seems like if everyone need to show that they have a cellphone. It is ridiculous and dangerous like the doctors said. I use my cellphone only when it is necessary.
