Do you receive a lot of spam in your mailbox? Do you trust antispam filters? Have you ever lost important legitimate e-mails because of your filters? Do you have any suggestions or remedies against spam?

I get my fair share (Or is it unfair share) of spam like most people do. It does annoy me that people living in another country have the audacity to send me unsolicited mail asking of I would like to buy steroids or have my manhood increased. I have not found a realistic solution to this and simply delete them. Anti spam filters are something that I have never tried, and I would be reluctant because of the possibility of having genuine emails lost as you suggested. Some of my friends have often changed their email provider and this could be a real problem with anti spam filtering.

I actually manage around 16 different e-mail accounts as I am a professional web developer. I have implemented spam assassin (in my opinion one of the best anti spam softwares around) on all my servers but that alone is not enough. I had to set rules that delete all tagged e-mails as I can't seem to get auto-delete functions to work. Oh well, I can say I'm winning the war with spam though as I now receive "only" 21 unsolicited e-mails per day compared to 120 per day some months ago.

@king_arthur I cannot imagine getting that many in my spam. I go down the list and sometimes there are some real ones there but I never open any I don't know. I had to many problems getting hacked through the years.
