The new survey opportunity - cash register receipts

United States
July 1, 2008 3:55am CST
Have you noticed that just about every receipt you get from a store purchase has a survey request on it. I don't mind giving my feedback, I guess its better than being chased by those clipboard carrying goons at the mall. If they offer a discount for taking the survey I'll call the 1-800 number or cue up their website. I guess its their way of customer feedback. Do you take advantage of such surveys?

Yes, I do on some of them. I think there aren't that many people that do the survey's so maybe I have a better chance of winning something. Theres one place that I go, where you can do a survey and they will give you a coupon for 10.00 off when you spend 30.00, I like it, hey you can get 30.00 worth of stuff for 20 bucks, how can you beat that. I think some surveys are worth taking.

I do the online surveys for certain stores, like Gap or Old Navy. Sometimes Target too, because you get a chance at a $5000 drawing. But yes, it's crazy all the survey requests. And it doesn't seem that they take the feedback too seriously, at least not at the Old Navy near me- they still never have enough registers open, there's always a line, etc.

Dont tlak to me about the ones who stalk the shopping malls with their clipboards!!im just trying to step to the left of them ,and they swerve to a halt in front of me..Madam..can I ask you??..NO ..and its always a catalogue in my case!and I keep on telling them i dont want any catalogues. But yes I have noticed the increase of the surveys and competitions on the supermarket til lreceipts, this very evening we went to a Brewers Fayre outlet for supper, and the bil lcame, wrapped inside of a competition form..to win a few hundred free meals!and then a web address to see if you minded logging on and answering their questions about the customer service, and the lure for doing this was a few more free meals!!..but I took the two mint imperials that were proffered and ran!

Im not mean!!im just not into giving strangers my information!!and why should I?if I dont want to stand in the street and give my details out then thats my choice! Its very much the same with the `Big Isssue` sellers ..they sometimes want to hound you until you have bought their magazines.

You are such a meany!!why dont you just give them their answers, tell them what they want to knoe and then they can earn a penny or two,it is peeps like you Rubes that keep folk from earning a living,I know the canvasseres are irritating but it takes just a minute or two ,and they go off with a smile on thier faces. So you done want a catalogue, hey who does want a catalogue, but you can always recycle them, save the planet and help the earth,so come on Rubes ,just let it all ride over your head a little.

We don't get things like that but if we did and we got money off or a discount of some kind for it then yes I would happily take the survey - as long as it wasn't too long! lol x

I'm always responding to these surveys online in hopes of ever winning the $1,000 or $5,000 prize when I'm entered into a drawing. So far, nothing.

I rarely notice it unless the cashier points it out to me. Even then, I don't think I've ever answered any of the surveys. I suppose the time it takes to go to the website and answer the questions doesn't seem worth it to me to get whatever discount they are offering, especially if it's not a store I frequent very much.

Yea, I only do it at the places I frequent.

The only receipt that I've had that has a survey phone number is our local office supply store. The sales person always mentions calling the number. But ... I forget by the time I get home. However, I have the receipt RIGHT HERE so I will call the number now!!! Years ago, I did the phone survey from a Red Lobster receipt. I think I got a coupon for a free ... something? Just can't remember what it was.

I have done the one for Burger King where you get a free whopper. I have also done the Walmart one as well. Those are the only 2 that I have done so far. I dont mind doing them because your getting something in return.

I only do it if there is a contest or I am not happy about something. I think it's a good idea to get customer feedback. I did that when I was in business. It helps you know what's good and what needs to be improved.

BTW, thanks for the best response, it's greatly appreciated. I know that I try, each time I get one, that is for a contest, to do it. Taco Bell, Walmart, Home Depot and others have done it. It takes just a minute on my cell phone, so it's worth it.

No, we haven't been getting those - but I always fill out the ones they leave in hotel rooms, asking how the service was!

I don't take the surveys, and I haven't been confronted by a man with a clipboard, but if one of them tries following me, I'll ask questions right back at him until he gets annoyed and leaves. LOL. Have you ever had a telemarketer call you? But you pick up the phone and ask "Hi, is Tom there? Tom Hanks? No? Sorry, must have dialed the wrong number." then hang up on him/her? It makes them confused like crazy! LOL. I had one who called me back, asking what that was all about... so I said "Tom? is that you? Are you messing with me again? Haha! Good one, Tom!" The guy got mad at me, and nearly yelled. LOL. It's fun to mess with them.

Hi gitfiddleplayer, I don't see those where I live, but we will probably get them later. I gave up on most surveys a long time ago, but if someone offered me a discount today with the rapidly high cost of living, I'd definitely take advantage of it. Blessings.

Gitfiddleplayer, No, I do not take the surveys provided on a receipt from the store. I have seen them also on restaurant receipts. Recently, we went to a restaurant, I think it was a Fridays, that said if we went to the website and registered, we could get a free appetizer the next visit to the restaurant. Guess these surveys are another avenue to getting special deals and saving a little cash. Thanks, gitfiddleplayer. PearlGrace

I have not seen anything like this before, just yet.. lol =D But even so, i dun think i will wanna feedback too, as i think there wun be much difference.. If they received bad comments, wat the staffs can do is to just throw it away and say that the customers threw away the receipt.. haha

I hadn't noticed that. I usually look at my receipts to verify the price listed on it was the correct price and that my total is correct. I then put them in an envelope to store incase i need to return anything. I tend to not notice the other printing on the receipts. I'll have to look closer next time!

I sure do! If they give you a discount, I'm all for it! Otherwise, I'm just too busy with other things. I'll take advantage of any discount I can these days. Today's economy is scary, to say the least. Who knows when we're going to come out of this spiral? It looks right now as though we're heading into a depression, so I sure will do anything I can to spend the least amount possible!
