My grandma eats a bland diet everyday and she is 96 years old now. She eats a lot of vegetables and fruit, sometimes she cooked fish only with water and wine. I don't think water-fish is delicious, but my grandma is quite healthy now.She seems much more younger than she is. So I guess maybe her bland diet helps my grandma.I havn't decied to eat a bland diet, because I love chili! May I have you opinions?what do you think about a bland diet?Does it really help a lot? :) My lunch today will be spicy chicken with fried griskin, not bland at all.

It doesn't sound like she eats a completely bland diet -- just a very healthy one. You can eat healthy without going completely bland. Congrats to your grandma for living such a healthy, long life!

To me, bland is a diet consisting of white fish, potatoes, rice, that sort of thing. Veggies don't seem bland to me! My avatar is the leaf from a caladium. Kind of a mini elephant ear kinda thing.

When I was young, I eat food that are spicy, very sweet and those that are salty. The tendency is that as you get older you cut back on these kinds of food because you will be prone to health problems such as diabetes and gall stones. But it is also not good to lack flavor in food. As an example you need salt because it is a source if iodine (prevents goiter) and you need sweets/sugar because it is a source of carbohydrates that gives your body energy. Bottom line, you can enjoy food with rich flavours when you are young and cut back as you grow old.:)
