HI All cook here at mylot, i have a big question in front of me, which oil is good for out health, we all have a habit of eating more oil in the vegetable and even with "chapati". We use groundnut oil and have not tried any other than musturd oil. So please share, which oil do you use and why? Is it possible to make vegi tasty with less use of oil?

My wife and I use virgin olive oil to cook with as well as canola. If you want to try different methods of cooking then I would stay steam the vegi's or find a fry pan that doesn't need Oil.

Because all our meals are American dishes, I don't use oil, ever. We might have some oil used to fry chicken, but that's it. The rest of the food is grilled, baked or steamed.

For taste on salads and such I use olive oil. In my chapatis I use either canola or soy oil depending on which I have in the house. I cook in a very old seasoned wok so I don't need oil for cooking most things.

Olive oil is healthier but no oils are really "healthy" so I just use as little as possible. Sometimes I put just a little bit of water in the pan when sauteeing to keep food from sticking then season it well so you don't miss the oil.

The kind of cookware I have makes it unnecessary to add oil, but I do like a bit of butter and/or olive oil added to the food after cooking.

I love my veggies boiled or steamed. And if ever I sautee' my veggies, the best that I tasted was done in vegetable oil. It is more healthy than using regular oil. Happy postings. HUGZ.

Corn oil. But it is expensive here. So if there is no budget, we oil the coconut oil from the near store.

I use canola oil in my deep fryer, and olive oil for shallow frying. My husband uses a horrible big block of something white for the barbeque - but I tell him not to put my food in that, and I make him use canola just for mine!
