In this day and age it seems that most people have hobbies related to modern technology such as surfing the net, mobile phones, texting, internet games and other modern activities. However, hobbies are supposed to be for relaxation and for us to better enjoy life during our leisure hours. I, for one, love gardening even though i rarely have tiem for it. But when i do have the time, i enjoy puttering around my plants, mostly flowers because i love flowers so much. Do many people nowadays still enjoy such hobbies as gardening and other activities such as knitting, cross stitching etc?

I think plenty of people still have those hobbies. I spend most of time on the computer or cooking but I have a garden also. I dont consider it a hobby as much as a moneysaving endeavor. It's fun watching plants grow though.

That's nice to know that a lot of people still enjoy the simple pleasures of life. It's really a special feeling to be able to nurtutre and grow plants or flowers and vegetables. My belief in miracles is always reinforced to see them grow from very little seeds. We do plant vegetables for our table since veggies are now so expensive and also not so safe considering all the pesticides used by farmers.

I don't have very many outlets to do things here, so I did put in a few vegetables alongside the house and in containers and yes, I enjoy babying each of them very much. I'm out there several times checking on them, like a mother hen. I also crochet, which I find very relaxing. I can do it easily while still watching TV and/or holding a conversation, and also if in a car while someone else is driving. I always have a small project with me when going to the dr or anywhere that I know I may have to sit for a while. I do spend a lot of time here no the internet, but its for socializing with my email friends and here at myLot, and also to make a few dollars here and there with my writing, etc, and I have to keep doing that. I do try to do other things to balance that.

I am quite busy at work and sometimes i really don't have much time to tend to my plants but i do really enjoy watching myplants grow. I too have vegetables in pots and other containers and it is quite practical too to grow them considering the spiraling prices. The same with crocheting or knitting. There is a sense of accomplishment seeing how you progress everyday creating something useful. Of course, we can't make do without the internet too but the good old hobbies are still the best.

Yes i completely agree with you. A hobby which involves your exertion like gardening or cooking is more rewarding than surfing. I too love gardening or atleast as you say poking around my plants. I love to water them deweed them and watch them from the moment the plants give out a bud till the flower withers out. These kind of hobbies relax us a lot since they are connected with nature. If we have surfing as a hobby we will learn a lot but in the end we will not feel as fulfilled and we might get eye pain too.

Yes, i know how you fill when nurturing yourplants, tending them and watching them grow. it's much better than the satisfaction you get out of surfing. just imagine you were able to bring to life and to grow something out of the ground. If you think about it,that's awesome.
