Ok so I am sitting here getting hungry, with everything going on the past few days I haven't been hungry so I figure its a good thing. Kat is eating at a friends house since they are having a cookout for the 4th and my fiance will be at work till 1 am. I go into the fridge to see what I have and take a tally, I have a couple of leftover beef hotdogs (no bread), some queso cheese, some salsa, and a few soft taco shells. So I think about it and decide to make a quesidilla. I took a cheese grater and shredded the hot dogs and the queso cheese, fried up the hotdogs with some taco bell sauce packs (I keep everything) put it together with the salsa and make a quesidilla. It turned out WAY better than I expected!! Have you ever put different ingreadients together and made something that you would definatly make again?

That actually sounds very tasty Erilyn! I have to say I wish I could be so inventive but I would probably have just opened a tin of soup or made a peanut butter sandwich! lol xxx

HEhehehhe When you don't have much you have to be creative lol. I have learned in my life to save everything I can and use it as much as I can! I have taught my kids to do the same thing! My oldest likes to anger me and throw stuff away. Tonight for dinner I am going to use the leftover chicken from last night add it to some spg. noodles and throw in some cheese.

I totally have! In fact, I do it all the time. Usually I put together stuff ahead of time in my head, so I already know I have what I need in the house. I think probably the weirdest thing I ever put together was some leftover beef gravy, egg noodles, and a couple of leftover meatballs and peas. Voila, instant beef stroganoff! My fiancee loved it. Right now, because I'm dieting, I like to keep a few key staples in the house that I can make almost anything out of: Chicken cutlets from the meat department, frozen veggies, Mrs. Dash seasonings and lemon juice, some shredded cheese, and a couple of different tomato-based pasta sauces. I don't know how many meals I've made just from that combination of things.

That beef storganoff sounds great! I use chicken a lot myself. I have made some chicken alfrado out of chicken a jar of alfrado sauce I had in the cabinet, and spg. noodles. I don't like to throw anything away and will find uses for everything!!

Now that IS creative!! I'm pretty creative when it comes to ingredients. If I've got a jar of marinara sauce, I can pretty much throw anything into it and make a tasty pasta dish. Also, soup can be made out of pretty much anything, if you've got some vegetables and a meat or even vegetarian.

Oh Erilyn I do fridge concoctions all of the time... I call them throw together casseroles or refrigerator soup. On the weekends before I go to the grocery store, the left overs from the week get revamped in some way and served again. I can not afford to waste even a bean. I keep tortillas in the refrigerator all of the time. Not only are they cheap but they make excellent lunch wraps for left over meats. Not to mention Jake my son loves them tosted in a pat of on a griddle all alone for a quick snack after school. Rotflmao However I have never thought about frying a hot dog and wrapping it up in a tortilla :)))

Got to shread it first and make a quesidilla!!! I can't afford to throw anything away either, and it can actually get fun putting stuff together that you never thought about before. A little of this and a little of that and voila you have something great on your hands!

Kudos. That sounds delicious. Once in a while I get creative enough to make some fabulous out of left overs, but now that all my children are gone from home, I hate to cook so much and food is just a necessity, not something I really enjoy, I just grab whatever's in the fridge and either heat it up or just eat it cold.

I don't like to cook for just me either. I like to cook for everyone. I have been known to eat things cold from the frigde for just me also! its hard to cook for just one person when you are used to cooking for an army!!

I am not creative in the kitchen all of the time. Sometimes I take two things and make something out of it, but it is very rare, and I cannot think of what I have made in the past. When my uncle comes over, he takes everything in the refrigerator and throws it all together. He will take vegetables and leftover meat (like steak) and cut it up. He will use most of the liquid from the vegetables (or fruit--tomatoes) and use as little canned juice as he can. He will throw in his own spices and let it cook down for a few hours. It gets rid of food that either would have rotted before we used it, or we would have eventually thrown away. And, it tastes so good!

I try to use stuff like that whenever I can. just throw something together out of the blue and hope for the best lol. Usually it works out and truns out to be really really good, occasionaly though its like ok not ever going to try that again lol.

I love cooking very much, i just don't miss out any receipes shown on television and i try it out for my dad, mom, kid and husband. I love chinese food, naan, briyani and south indian food. In tamil nadu the specality food is sambar ( basically dhall gravey) and idli (rice pancakes). Hyderabadi food are good but they are very hot.
