That was an interesting read RYBDog, it affected me on several levels. One it proves our tougher documentation laws are working and doing what they are meant to do. Two, it saddens me that as a whole American citizens mired in hate and prejudice that these immigrants actually fear for their very lives and live in shame in a country that is suppose to be filled with such wondrous opportunity. Lastly it frightens me to think about the poorer low income family here is the states that have no other country to go back to, what is to become of them if this trend in our economy continues. How is it they are going to survive? My husband and I now have a comfortable life, far far from it being a financially rich one, but we can pay our bills and buy what we need with out discomfort, not always a lot of wiggle room for extras. My husband got a 2% living raise the first of the year, but gas has doubled and food costs, we are beginning to feel the pinch in our monthly budgets big time... How much worse is it for family of lower incomes?

"Lastly it frightens me to think about the poorer low income family here in the states that have no other country to go back to." Then they shouldn't have broken the law coming here. "It saddens me that as a whole American citizens mired in hate and prejudice that these immigrants actually fear for their very lives." True, illegals lives should not be in danger from vigilantes. That said, we have a town not too far from here with more than their share of these people. Can you even begin to imagine the excess this town has compared to others around here of DWI's, unpaid hospital bills, credit card fraud and crime in general? People are upset with good reason. 80% of illegals are giving the other 20% a bad name.

"I also think it unfair to focus all the crimes and unpaid bills entirely on immigrants." I don't focus all the crime and unpaid bills on immigrants. My point is that the town that has these people has a lot more of these problems than other towns.

""Lastly it frightens me to think about the poorer low income family here in the states that have no other country to go back to." I should have made that statement clearer I was talking about American families. But even if I were not we have to have some kind of compassion on illegals that have no way home to their countries, as all of the problems you just mentioned are escalated when parents have children to feed and shelter. Lets not even bring up that fact that innocent children are involved here as well. They deserve, no matter the crimes of elders safety, warm beds at night, full bellies, educations. I also think it unfair to focus all the crimes and unpaid bills entirely on immigrants. Do you have any idea of the amount of uninsured Americans and poor families we have in the states whose only recourse for medical care is through the hospital ER systems? As a nurse I saw it on a tremendous scale.

I say hooray for them realizing what is good for thier families. Americans that are born here have a hard time reaching the American dream, how do they intend to do it illegally. It continues to amaze me that when people do things illegally that they believe they deserve everything that all others work so hard for. The way I look at it is that if they really wanted to be part of America they would work through the hard times like the rest of us do. I applaud the lock down that is happening and companies now wanting all the legal paper work it is a long time over due. It just goes to show the number of people using the United States and I am sure the numbers will jump extremely over the next 2 years. I have a huge heart but I also believe as an American citizen that you have to do it right to stay here. My ancestors did it right so why shouldn't others? The idea is not to always take but to give back to America. This is where alot of people get lost. Being an American is a priviledge not a right. You must earn your way to be a productive citizen it should not just be given to you. I have obtained the American dream. We get to work our butts off to pay bills, to keep a roof over our head and to once and awhile be able to go away on vacation after saving for a year.

Speaking of people should do things the right way, want to bet those illegals scurrying home left some unpaid bills behind?

Finding something American made in a Wal-Mart would be difficult. To think too, that there was a time when Sam Walton was still alive that Wal-Mart had a buy American plan where they delibrately sought out small American manufacturers. Walton explained to the business community that this was so the people who bought at Wal-Mart would continue to have jobs so they could continue to buy at Wal-Mart. Too bad current Wal-Mart managers are not that smart!

I am so sure they did. This is just the begining of what is to come. People use the United States to prosper killing the economy in many ways. I live in a city up north that is over ran with many illegals and yes I know this as Fact. My sons had to move to KY to get work, and they are Americans. It is rediculous and then illegals wonder why we resent them being here. I do not understand why they would want to stay? Come here legally and get the money they should be not 5 an hour. I have been saying for years that we need to be self reliant. We rely on other countries way too much for lots of things. The politians keep on taking out and never ever give back. American need to learn to buy from the fruitstands .. not at big markets where it comes from over seas. Yes it may be hard at first on the pocket but this is the only way this country will flourish. farmstands are just an example. Go into a walmart and find something that is american made, I dont think this can be done lol. I laugh but it is ashame. Now with china getting hit with the oil how much do you think thier cheap products will cost to ship? We can produce everything here make better quality and thrive as a nation. I just do not understand why we let all the businesses leave. They should have given big businesses tax breaks a little tax is better than no tax. How they think is beyong my logic.

There truly is a silver lining to everything. Some could say that illegals are one of the reason for the slow down in the economy. Let me explain, the reason is not the pushing down the wages. The way illegals hurt the economy is the money that they do make is sent to Mexico, which can only help the Mexican economy. Every dollar made here in the States but is spent in another country, is a dollar not being spent here in America. So one could say they sent themselves home. Another way they hurt the economy is how much money is spent trying to stop them coming into the country, and capturing them once they are in the country. About the benifits of lowering the wages, American companies are leaving America because of the wage gap of other countries is to great not to move. Any downward push on wages is a good thing for the long term.

Odd how that works out, isn't it? Additionally, maybe we need to send secret agents disguised as union reps to drive wages up in China, Mexico, etc.

Actually this makes a lot of sense. Anyone who is breaking the law and living in fear of being caught is going to try to break laws where the reward is high and the risk of being caught is low. That is what illegal immigration was like just a few years ago. Lots of jobs and very little enforcement. The risk of illegal immigrants being caught has greatly increased and the reward for being here is less because there are fewer jobs for them and inflation is high so there is less money to send home. Many of them never planned on staying and trying to become American citizens anyway. They planned to send money home and save until they could go home and retire anyway. They are just going home earlier.

I have to say I'm surprised they didn't start packing up sooner. After all, many of the jobs Americans formerly did have been exported to other countries and so Americans are in line to do the "undesirable jobs."(Supposedly, the jobs illegals have been doing because nobody else wanted to do them.) So that leaves the immigrants out of work in the USA so they can go home now and get the jobs Americans used to have before they were exported to other countries.

Yeah, so there it is, i always knew illegals would have it sooner or later. Believe me, just the ppl i know are illegals in usa, and they have suggested easy ways to hide out from the authorities and get a good amount, but i always thought, they r not gonna last long. I really dont understand whats the fun in loosing ur freedom and living in fear just for some extra money?

Yes, it is a shame to see the more intelligent leave a country. It is all so unecessary, too. All it takes is an economy where those who are promoted are truely the most able and not merely those connected by family or political party to someone influential. We have those problems even here in the USA, but to a lesser extent. That is the entire secret to a booming economy. Promotion on merit and nothing else and no monopoly for socialism. Seems pretty simple but you can't get people to believe it.

That my friends, is a sad state of affairs in this country. Then again, this could be a good thing. If a lot of illegals leave the country, then more jobs can be taken back by US citizens, making the unemployment rate go down. This would actually help the economy. So it has to look like its getting worse before it gets better.
