Did anyone else see the 2008 Hero Awards? It was this awesome awards show featuring famous actors, too cool musicians, and one big twist- everyday heroes. There was a guy who helped Katrina survivors on his own dime, a doctor who pioneered a new cancer treatment, a man who saved his neighbor and three other people after a plane crashed in his neighbor's house, and a kid who helped pay for terminally ill kids take train rides by collecting and exchanging recyclables! Wait to go! I'm inspired. I DVRed it yesterday so I could watch the Olympic trials, but still see it. They're both in a way about heroes! I want to be a hero someday in my own way.

I saw a part of it. I had previously seen this feature of a young guy who helped this old lady get out of her wheelchair that had been stuck on the railroad track. He said he only did what came naturally because he had been taught to help people. And he knew he could never have lived with himself had he not tried to help her. Then she showed the wheelchair that was left in pieces down the track after being hit. Then he was one of the heroes on the show. He said he didn't consider himself a hero and sure never thought of being on that program after just helping save the woman's life.
