I do my best work when I'm practically unconscious

I've realized that when I am dead tired, I do my best work. When I am on my last few hours til deadline, I seem to come up with my best papers and essays. I'm trying not to procrastinate! But it just seems that whatever I am writing, I am going to be re-writing over and over and over, until it's last minute cram time. Are you the same way?

I'm glad you can cope with last minute deadlines, luckycharm! I like doing things straight away and getting them out of the way. If I'm running out of time I feel a bit panicky - and although I end up getting it done, I'm not happy about the stress involved.

I'm normally not stressed out about getting my work done unless my son is climbing on me and trying to help me type. Then I start to get worried whether I'm going to get it done or not. He has a baby sitter today so that I can sit down and try to get this thing out of the way. I'll be back and forth between MyLot all day just to take a break. Have a great day!

I tend to do my best work before I get really tired. Once my brain and body get tired, it is very hard for me to focus and function. I am more prone to slowness and mistakes when I am really tired. I am more productive before getting wore out.

I don't know what it is.. I am trying to do my paper, and I just keep getting distracted, and normally, whenever I'm stuck on something, I get up, do something else, then come back to it. And I've been doing that a lot. This is a particularly difficult paper too, and I just can't seem to stick with it.

I love the idea of being in the same state. It is almost like your brain knows what needs to be done and just does it without you! It worked for me in high school creating Dungeon&Dragon adventures, and in college with my studies. And all my best papers were written the night they were due. I am a little older know and I tell my kids not to be that way. Hmmm. Maybe it is just a skill, a brain overload or just plain luck!

I am like that too for some reason and I could never understand it. I am not good at doing technical/administrative stuff when I'm tired because I tend to lose focus...but if I'm really tired and in the mood to write it seems that is when I am the most creative! Why is that? I'd really like to know. But maybe that's why my kids make sure I don't sleep too much - to help keep me creative :)

I think I do my best work when I am wide awake and had plenty of sleep. I tend to think sharper and am more patient.

I'd like to be able to do that. My mind just kept telling me, "oh you've got time". So I did all the research, just didn't actually write the paper until last minute.

No. I am the polar opposite. I would rather start on anything a little early than wait until later. If I try to cram, I would do my worse work.

Well you can actually do the same thing even a few hours or days but the problem is in your mind that you are unknowingly setting some differnt targets in some less time than that is available so i advice you to think about this problem for a while and when you have a lot of time don't wait for the last minute to come but just go on and start it the first second that you are left with and after some time you will surely change. it is also that your subconsious mind makes you work more and think more when the time is approaching. It even happened to me a lot of times. Happy Day and Good Luck.

I've been trying to work on it the minute I found out about it, but I just can't sit down and actually do it. My mind keeps telling me, oh you have time, you have time. But I actually want to do it, and just can't convince my mind to do so. AH! I keep telling my self the clock is ticking down.. 22 hours left til it's due..

I do my best work when I'm resting. Sometimes in the afternoon, I get overwhelmed with data and information. My brain stops functioning. I have the luxury of lying down. It's in those moments between waking and sleeping that my best ideas come to mind. And, same as you, I work best under stress. It gives me less time to think, and just enough time to act!

We both do the same thing. I have seen that I write me best papers just about an hour before it is due also! I have to work tonight and I know I have this get this done, but I don't wanna right now! I have 3 hours before it is due when I get home. It like you have all the information, but don't want to put it all together! At least next week is the last week then I have a week break! Hopefully, I will do less procrastinating in my next classes!

I've been trying to get this done all day, and just can't seem to do it. I even found my son a baby sitter so I could actually do it, and not have an excuse. lol. I tried so hard not to procrastinate.. I'll be up all night now.. lol.

I thought, when you said unconscious, you were out sleeping on your bed. hehehehe. I work best and fast when cramming. I really don't know why, when I could have just started and finished the project at an earlier time.
