The Three Fold Law

The Three Fold Law (A Wiccan concept) simply stated says that whatever energy you put out in the universe comes back to you 3 times. What are your opinions on The Three Fold Law? As for myself, I don't believe in it. When I gave it a lot of thought I realized that it was just a Heaven and Hell concept, only more instant. It also seems to me that people are going to do what they are going to do. What are your views?

I think it's horsetripe. simple physics. every action has an EQUAL and opposite reaction. I beleive in personal responsibility. not some karmic boogyman.

I think it's a fancy way of saying "what goes around comes around." If you're a hateful or negative person, people who know you will be hateful or negative to you as well, generally. How you act and interact with people will determine how they act and interact with you. I don't necessarily believe that the universe has as much of an impact as our social behaviors. And there are always exceptions. Pedophiles win the lottery. People who go out of their way to harm others are the recipients of great kindness. And so on. BUT, if one internalizes the concept and decides that in their own lives they are going to put out nothing but kindness, compassion and generosity, then that's a beautiful way to live. So the ideology does have merit.

I think that you and I are coming from about the same place. I do believe in trying to be kind, compassionate and generous. I just believe you should be those ways for their own sake. Not because of a stick and carrot.

I hear what you're saying. However, religion of any kind is ritualistic, and most religions have some basic tenets. If people believing that putting out harmful energy will yield harmful energy, and if that's what it takes for them to be a good person, then it's essentially harmless. "Do unto others..." is another good example of it, without all the doom and gloom and stuff attached to it.

in other words this is what we called "KARMA" and i believe in that.,just like the "golden rules" ., if you did something good to others then it will comes back to you not just twice ., we don't know how much are we going to get something from it but of course doing good things to others doesn't mean that you are doing that because you wanted to get something from it.,do good with all your heart and without any notice God will grant what he think is right for you.,best of luck! have a nice day ahead! see you around!!!

I believe in the 3 fold law. I always seem to have good things happen to me when I think positively and believe in what I am doing. Things always seem to go my way when I put good into the world.

Unfortunately I tend to believe in it. Or if nothing else, like another poster said what goes around comes around. I'll give you an example. About 25 years ago while working in a hospital a female patient came in dressed in gorgeous clothes, manicured nails and a ton of rocks on her hands. When I asked for her insurance card she handed me a Medicaid (welfare) card. I didn't say anything directly to her, but I did to everyone else I came into contact with. I was so pissed off that she could dress like that and "rob the state." However I never took into consideration how things could have changed for her to be on that type of program. I also was in charge of collections and wasn't very nice about it. I was young, and stupid and perhaps too smug for my own good. Now fast forward to now. Guess who is the one seeking medical treatment and needing state help? Yep, me. I'm disabled and now needing help with groceries, rent etc. And now its me dealing with collection agencies for medical bills I can't pay. I wasn't Wiccan then, but if that isn't Karma I don't know what is. And yea, I'd say thats threefold for sure. Apparently it was a very hard earned lesson I needed to learn to carry me on to my next life - not to be so judgemental.

Though I am hearing of this law for the first time, the concept is an old one. You reap what you sow! Cause and effect etc..

I dont believe in the "Three Fold" but I'm also not Wiccan HOWEVER I DO believe in Karma and have seen it in action more than once in my life....Every action has a reaction and everything we do affects the entire world to one degree or another..its that whole ripple effect thing...There is ALWAYS a payback to everything we do...it coudl be a good payback OR it could be a negative payback..but it will always happen to one degree or another..

Mostly...I view it as just a faith-based cause and effect theory. I believe in cause and effect, but I can't say I believe in the three fold law itself. Because how can your quantify the effect to what you caused? There's too many variables to say it's always three. And the effect is not always apparent. _ I just really like using science as a part of my spirituality lol. Weird as that is sometimes.

3 times you say. Of course this is not a fact. The Wiccan Concept sounds like some type of black magic or witch craft nonsense.

This was posted under the subject Pagan. So, yes, it would be witchcraft, though magick doesn't have a color (unless maybe it is green ).

I agree with you that people are going to do what they want to do but I also believe in The Three Fold Law-what you do to others in the craft especially will and does come back to you-we must never forget that although the bible has a similar way of saying it they may of taken it or based it on the wiccan law too-your friend littleowl

well the three fold.. also known as karma.. isnt strictly a wiccan concept. pretty much every path of faith has their version or form of it, just called something different. and yes.. i think we get what we give, reap what we sow, get out of whatever what we put into it. if all we do is negative, all that we will have in our lives will be such and vice versa, whether we beleive it or not.

Well, I said it was a Wiccan concept, because while most religions have a return concept it is sort of one to one. The christians do have that concept of the sevenfold return though (or is that tenfold, I can't remember, I don't hear about that much any more).

I believe in the Three Fold Law. I believe in how our actions have equal or greater reactions. I also believe all religions have some form of this whether is the the Golden Rule to Karma.

It's a matter of personal belief. The Wiccan's three fold law is similar to Hindi's law of karma.... or something like Christian's Golden rule. It's your faith that determines whether the concept is true or not. I'm a Christian, but I also believe that life is unfair. In my experience, I know I don't deserve the things I get... the pains and all. But I just continue living... and continue giving good cheers and energies to people.
