Hard to believe that I am almost 26 years old and my acne is worse than ever! I have tried everything. The product that was the absolute worse for me believe it or not is Proactive! I don't know what happened but my face is just plain mad at me. I'm going to the doctor again and I'm going to see about this new thing on TV called Differin. Probably won't work but I'll try anything. You know I'm so skinny and I have a great figure and all but really my skin is what makes me feel so ugly at times. I don't ever walk out the door without my makeup which I know is even worse for my skin. I try to not ware it as much as possible but I couldn't have people seeing me without it.

I have heard of acne being caused by hormone imbalances. Where proactive and other face washes are designed to just clean up pores. It is possible that these washes could even agitate your skin if it is already sensitive. So as the person above me said, you might talk to your dermatologist about hormone based treatment rather than face washes.

I'm sorry you are having so much trouble. I can't believe Proactive worked so badly! The commercials make it sound like it is a lifesaver. I think seeing a dermatologist is a good decision. Have you ever used tea tree oil? I found it at my local health food store after reading about it online. I used it for a while when I had a breakout and it lessened the redness and the degree in which the blemishes "flourished."

Proactive caused my acne go from the surface of my skin deep into my skin where now I've got these red bumps that hurt. My skin was not this bad at all until I tried that. Since I just can't get my skin to even get back to the way it was. I do use tea tree oil on the swelling sometimes and it does help... maybe I should try actually putting some in water and lightly wash with it. Thanks for the advice.

I am 30 years old and I am still getting breakouts. I have not tried Proactive or any other strong acne medicine yet though. I don't wear makeup at all, so my zits are just out there in the open.

You are very brave. I'm sure my skin wouldn't be so bad if I was willing to go without makeup for a while. I don't wear it if I'm inside.

I have heard that Proactive can be very effective for many but it also has an acid in it that can cause an allergic reaction to people with sensitive skin. Have you thought about using an all natural facial system. You can check some out at www.nomorehotflashes.myarbonne.com Also there was another reply that mentioned a hormone imbalance as a possible cause. You might want to go to www.johnleemd.com and read what hormonal imbalances can cause. It was a real eye opener for me! Arbonne also has an all natural homone balancing cream. I have been using it and it really does put your body in balance! Good luck to you!

Sorry to hear you're having trouble! Acne is definitely one of the most annoying things there is to deal with. My friend goes to the dermatologist a lot, and the only thing that seems to be working for her was a kind of birth control. You could try asking your doctor if he/she thinks that would help your situation. Good luck!

My skin was a lot better when I was on the Depo shot, but I can't use anything right now because I need my system to go back to normal. I use to take a pill for my skin but now it doesn't work.
