Sorry for my ignorance but what is java? I really don't know what it is. What does it do in a computer? Is it necessary to have a java? How can I have that java? Is it a program or what? Will a PC work even without a java? Hope that anyone could enlighten me with this one. Thanks in advance!

Well I hope the following will help you: Java is a programming and scripting language that is primarily used for the web (although it could be used for other stuff too). Javascript is a scripting language that web designers use to perform various tasks. For example, if you've ever seen buttons on a web page that light up when your mouse goes over them, you've probably seen Javascript in action (in case you're wondering, those are called "Java Rollovers - our site uses them at the top of every page). A Java Applet is a mini program that runs inside of your web browser. You can use Java Applets for more than just navigation. There are many game sites that use these to make things work. Happy postings!

Java is a programming language. Some applications require the sun's java runtime in order for it to run properly. If an application require you to install it then do so, if not then you wont be needing it. Some cellphone use java so probably the PC applications use to connect to it may require you to install it.

I always thought it was another name for a new type of coffee like starbucks or something to do with coffee and cyber cafes. The new computer I have has this program called Java. I really still dont know though. I think it may have someting to do with reading other programs! I am really not that sure though if I do use it it must be automatic. Hope you find the reply your looking for! Take care and Happy Java! :)
