This was one movie that I enjoyed so much the first time that I put it on the top of my "to buy list" when it was released on video. I rushed out to purchase it the first week. The movie was released in 2005 and is 1 hr and 26 minutes of entertainment for any age. We meet four zoo animals that are having an easy life. Marty the Zebra leaves the zoo by following the penguins. The other three want to keep Marty out of trouble, so go after him. The zoo keepers decide its good and send the animals to Madagascar. We can easily see they are going to have problems on their own. The voices are done by Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sacha Baron Cohen, Cedric the Entertainer and Andy Richter. I wanted to see the penguins, as there were many commercials before the movie was released. I still sing move it when thinking about the movie. The music video is great. Also don't skip the penguins discussing the movie. I really enjoyed viewing it again this week.

Well you will be happy to know that Madagascar 2 will be out in Nov. My kids and I can't hardly wait. The movie is really a well done film that shows the bond these 4 characters have for each other. Certainly a great theme for kids nowadays. The interesting thing in all these animation movies, really since Shrek took the scene, is to appeal to the adults with inside jokes and humor. Cars has a lot of that as well.

I sure am looking forward to November. In fact, that is the reason it was the perfect time to post this review, as I'm planning to post several different movies this summer. I really enjoy movies that are perfect for the family. Thanks for mentioning Madagascar 2.

I remember when it was first released in theaters I thought it looked really funny. I always thought I'd see it when it came out on DVD, but I never did. I think I'll add it to my netflix list. I have the cheapest plan, but I watch them and send them back in a hurry, so it comes to less than a dollar a movie a month. I'm going to add Madagascar to my list.

That is a great plan. I may have to consider the plan in the fall, as going to post movies that are on my shelf this summer. Thanks for posting.

*Hums the bass line to "Move It* I loved that movie too, but I don't think that its fun for all ages as you do. I bought the movie when it first came out as well, and I viewed it by myself before I let my son watch it. Good thing that I did. There are a couple not-so-hidden cursewords in there that I didn't want my son seeing, so it was a whole year before I actually let my son view it. That way he was old enough for me to explain that he wasn't to use those words on anyone. Other than that I think its a great movie! Now I have an earworm of "move it" in my head, so I have to find that DVD!!!

Some day I'm going to catch up on all the movies I've missed, like Madagascar. Why is it that we all love to see animals acting like humans? A movie with this plot and live actors would be a flop, probably, but I hear this one is quite successful!

We had a lot of fun watching that movies. I was reading an article about stars doing the voices on these movies. Evidently it isn't as easy as you would think. We also kept singing the darn songs afterwards too. "I like to move it move it.....". Did Madagascar 2 ever come out?

The penguins are hilarious! They sorta spiced up the movie a bit, with their wit and humor. What annoyed me though were the two monkeys, I don't know.. they were just too annoying for me.

My kids love this movie. They sing the song "Move It." Now mind you, my kids are all teenagers or older.
