concussions can lead to alzheimers later on

i think it was mayoclinic that i read it but i have had several concussions and they said that it ups the chance of developing it later on.. i haven't known anyone that has had both but do you guys?

God I hope not. Alzheimer's scare the crap out of me.

me too.. but i can remember 3 head injuries and 1 neck injury for me so im worried.. not to mention with fibro lack of grey matter crap

I really don't think so. Alzheimer's is an organic disease that has to do with degeneration of certain brain cells. A concussion, while unpleasant, is an immediate trauma to the brain. The brain will recover from that. It normally doesn't create an organic problem, unless there is a fracture associated with it.

it said that the more you get the more likelier you would develop it which i can see head trauma but kind of weird to associate it with alzheimers which is sneaky and slow moving (or maybe not slow moving but some times takes awhile before people figure it out) where as i would think if concussion played a part it would be more immediate.. but i could just be ignorant on this.. i dont know much about alzheimers and if i hadnt had even had a concussion last year i wouldnt have even read it
