Well for us Filipinos we all know that Neri has somewhat questionable personality being too loyal to the present administration. Do you think he deserves to be placed in that position? Knowing that this agency has plenty if SS member's contribution looks like they are planning something in the next coming elections and they place this person because they know this person will never speak as long as he is given the position and money to shut up. So for all of us SS members please watch your funds as it may just disappear one time.

Thank you for opening this particular topic. Anyways, definitely Neri's loyalty is with the recent administration. Though, he may be qualified because of his educational background, his character is definitely in question. And yes, our contribution is definitely in threat knowing that a lot of money is involved in the process. I guess, as members, this time we should be more vigilant as to where the government is taking our money. We pay our taxes and yet we somehow had this que sera attitude as to where these tax deductions go to. I mean, do we get the quality of service we deserve with the kind of roads we use in commuting, the traffic condition we encounter, the quality of health services we have from our public hospitals, etc.? And now that our SSS contributions seem to be threatened, what is there that we should expect from the state that supposedly taking care of its citizens? All I can say is that the leadership in our government seemed to be extracting whatever it could get from the citizens. And the leadership is callous enough to show everything without being bothered by their conscience. I should commend the outgoing SSS president for her effort in making SSS strong in terms of financial sustainability. There was a time, when SSS was a bit unstable, but she somehow was able to get through the rough times. The only wish I had is that this outgoing president would have made a mechanism that members' contribution would not be manipulated nor abused by anyone whether there is change of leadership or non.

Well yes i forgot to commend the outgoing president too. For the past few years although SSS got silent in the background they continued to provide services to their members quite okay and she has even made it bloomed like it was never before and her dedication toward us members were unparalleled since there were rumors that several times she was asked to contribute to the present admin funds but she refused to give in that is the reason why she was said to be booted out. She is claiming health reasons but I doubt it is really the reason behind her resignation.

That is also what I fear about the change. But we will see that in the coming elections.

I also doubt about the outgoing president's reason. But I guess, she will be leaving SSS with a heavy heart. She knows that SSS will be used and be part of the current administration's machinery for 2010.

Definitely there will always be a political color in this appointment of Secretary Neri. Though I think he have the education and capability to lead the SSS, but he lacks the most important thing that a leader should have, a strong character. I just don't know why the President continues to do such appointment like this with person who have a questionable reputation. Is this how stupid she thinks of the Filipino people? It's better that the SSS employees union are well aware of this and will be vigilant to guard the SSS funds from unscrupulous use.

Yes its just unfortunate that he joined in an organization that is so unquestionable that is why his reputation now supersedes his qualification. I hope he could find a way to make this bad reputation be returned back to his equivalent qualifications.

I agree with you. But Neri is a very respectable man before GMA tinted his reputation. Remember he even told GMA about the 200M? The guy is just like an ordinary person, afraid to risk his life. GMA is the devil here, and if GMA is devil i dont know what to call Mike.

That is also my initial reaction.. WHAT?! Maybe this is his payback for being loyal to his boss. I watch the outgoing president and I can sense that something is wrong with her resignation. She told the media that she turned down some requests in the past to fund some projects and no way that she will use the member's fund to those things not related to the 400M members. That is what the prize that a hard headed members of the cabinet had to pay, to be kicked out in their post not for being corrupt but for being straight. She seems to be the abnormal among the normal eggs of corrupt like her boss. This is how this government being run by the tenant of MalacaƱang. She's building an empire of puppets so she can stay beyond her term and Neri deserves to have a juicy seat for being the dog that doesn't bark. In fairness, the man is qualified but does he have a credibility?

Well what else except the silence of Sec. Neri when the senate finally gets some scandals and everything. He is good at that and enjoys just being like that in his career.

clearly a political pay-off for proteceting gloria's interests durign the zte scandal. let's hope and pray that the thieves in malacanang won't dip their hands in the pension fund of sss members. although, it seems like asking a scorpion not to sting its victims.

You got it. Poor Filipinos like us. We will find out soon that they will have no funds when we loan something from SSS because of this and that. And expect a ready explanation behind. I hate Gloria. She don't have any credibility as well as Neri.

That's what you get when you remain loyal and quite to the present administration. Poor Neri that he's name is forever associated with controversy & mistrust.. Filipinos just disgust him and his dictator.

I really don't think he is that poor by now, his pocket is full of gold right now that is why he is so loyal to his master.

i think your concern is well-founded and valid. taking into account the history and tendency of this present administration, it is very likely that it will do something magical in the fund with the guy who never betrays his boss and is all too loyal to the president. of all people, why neri? because he does not speak when the fate of the president is on the line.

Being a member contributor of this organization, I am very much concerned because the fund right there is not to be used by any politicians even the president but only for us members there.

i'm against the appointment of romulo neri as new sss president of the philippines because people already has no confidence on his leadership after he was linked the controversial ZTE NBN broadband deal. his educational background and experience is unquestionable but his leadership already has no moral support from the people. president arroyo must appoint someone who have credibility to lead the social security system of the philippines...

Well what can you expect from GMA as she is just paying Neri her debt of gratitude for being a nice and quiet member of her cabinet. He must be placed in a strategic fund resource for the next political move of the admin.

Philippines is getting crazier and crazier everyday. I don't know if we Filipinos are blind or just doesn't don't care. Its really obvious why Neri is assigned in SSS, its not because of his credentials, but because of politics. I don't know why there are people that are so greedy even though they know 10 years from now they'll gonna die. They can't bring all those money to hell. This people are crazy. The only thing that I can say right now is Good luck to all SSS members.
