Are you tagging your messages?

I have sent a few messages a few times and was surprised that there's the option to tag messages too like we do discussions? Is it really necessary? I guess if you have been here a while, you may have sent so many messages but wouldn't the title and person you have sent it to guide you towards finding it? A bit odd..Anyone using this option or do you skip right through it?

When you are responding to a discussion, you tag the response with keywords that I think can help users to easily locate topics/discussions related to keywords you use while tagging. methinks

Thinking back to my database admin, I think the tags are like keywords that may be used for indexing the database so for example if you make a search, then the corresponding phrases and keywords in discussions would pop up and tagging is the way to do this. Thanks for your response

I always tag my threads and responses. It is a big help for the admin to group our threads. It is also a big help to other members to find the threads under their interests.

hi friend, yes, it is a interesting question,Every one should find that if you respond some one's discussion or send a message to other users on mylot.we all have the option to tag the response or message.Usually, i all tag my message with some keywords.I think it is just decided by your own habit. If you have the habit, you can tag it. I always think whether or not it is useful to tag a message Good luck to you.

Yes Marina, tagging of messages is absolutely necessary and this increases the searching value of the messages and makes it able to be found by a searcher and study it. Hence few key words in the tagging box relating to the message we compose, are of well importance! Thanks for your query!

I don't tag my messages when i send a private message to another user. I don't think that there is the need to since it is meant for that particular user only.

I haven't written a message in quite awhile, so guess I forgot that there was even the option to tag them. It does seem pretty odd to tag a personal message to someone! I don't really feel like it's necessary. I've never used that option before in any of the messages that I've sent in the past.

I have also noticed that when you send a message you have the option of either tagging it or skipping it,and I think it is nothing but a hassle especially since you have to preview the message before you can even submit it,I do not tag my messages since when I send a message to one of my friends,I figure they will read it without it having tags, even though I think I have a tagged a message or two when I first started mylotting.

I tag all my discussions ,when I ever have an idea for one that is lol,but if I was sending a message to someone then I wouldnt tag it,as surely it can be picked up by someone else, and the whole point of private messaging is that it is private,so tagging the message defeats the object surely.I am sure im not the only one by a long way who doesnt tag any of there private messages.

Hello marina321. I just sent someone my first ever private message and was as surprised as you when asked to tag it. That's why I got to this discussion because I do find it odd and wanted to see if other people think so too. I do add tags for discussions but I think I'll be skipping that option when I do private messages. I don't really find it necessary and until now, I still wonder what the purpose is. Plus, it may not be so but I worry that adding such tags to a private and more personal message would make it easier for others to read the message that wasn't meant for them.
