Do you mind people talking to you during a movie?

I love to watch suspense and action movies. But if I am concentrating and someone starts to talk to me that actually irritates me a lot. How is it for you?

i dont like it when someoe speaks to me in movies...but if that person has the feel of saying really impt that could be the exception adn please not on the most awaited scene!!! i watch movies often on cds so when someone speaks to me i will just pause the player and hear that person out and when we are done talking i will resume watching...

It irritates me when my husband does it because he just continues until he's said what he has to, and it's usually during a part I want to hear. Thankfully he only does this mainly during TV shows, and not movies. During movies he'll complain if someone starts talking. Now we have 3 kids, all of whom have big mouths. but the biggest one belongs to my 11 year old daughter. She has a tendency to make observations and explanations out loud. This has given me some insight to how observant and perceptive she is, but it's annoying when you're trying to hear the movie. Luckily with her I can just tell her to "Shh" - can't do that to the hubby.

Funny one. Is interesting to see how the kids are really observing things but I tell you I would say to my hubbie. Thank you for your answer.

It actually depends on what the person is talking about. Some of my friends talk about the movie that we are watching as we analyze each characters. Say for example it's a thrill or suspense movie and we ourselves are figuring out who could be the killer and anticipating the twists of the movie. But if someone talks to you far away from what you're watching, then that becomes very inappropriate and very irritating. Hehe! Cheers!

I am totally that guy who talks during movies. I dont go to too many movies but when I do i cant keep my mouth shut I guess I get so engrossed in the movie that I start talking at the screen my wife doesnt nudge to shush me and I have not had an usher come talk to me so i guess I am not bothering anyone I do not talk to others though just the screen

yes, there is nothing worse then getting really into a good movie then suddenly other person talks, and expect reply. Especially when that person has lost the plot of film or missed a bit and wants you to say what just happened and so on, but in order to tell them what just happened, you then missed the next bit yourself.. Another annoying thing is.. when other person say. o i remember this film now, so and so do this or that.. or even worse, suddenly tell you the end, just to prove they seen it.. o wonderful.. ''' Cheers, now i Not need to watch the film now i know the ENDINGG''' loool

LMAO. Is totally true. I forgot about that one. Irritating people telling me the end. Like I don't know if you saw Carrie but that was one people would love to tell me the end. Damn! Oh by the way I saw that you were upset about people not writing to you. I always do answer to people and try to comment as much as I can. Of course I love the money side of MyLot but I love to communicate that is why I am here and Second Life all the time. Count on me!

usually i don't like it. but sometimes a small little quip that is opportune can add to the enjoyment of the movie. especially if there is a problem area. for instance, the actors hair keeps changing styles when the movie story line took place for less than a day. yet one scene the hair is fluffed up. then the next shot the hair is parted down the middle. the next shot the hair is parted at one side. you have got to say something after a while. LOL

i am a big fan of al pacino but in the movie 88 minutes which equals 1 hour and 28 min he had major changes in his hair style. it was so difficult to not notice after while it became a distraction. warning there are some uncomfortable torture scenes.

If someone is talking for only a few seconds and only once in a while, it doesn't bother me. I'm not one of those people who turns around at every noise someone makes and shooshes them. But, if they are having a full blown conversation during the whole movie, then, yes, it does bother me. I also hate it when people talk on their cell phone! People talk on their cell phone everywhere, even in the movies and at the library. I mean, why do they have to be talking all the time?

I agree with you. Oh the cell phones! They are killer but I think they just talk all the time because they are compulsive talkers and did not find My Lot yet. LOL

I think its terrible also. Movies cost $9.50 in my area and I should be able to hear the entire movie. Its not right when people ruin the movie when I miss an important piece of the movie because they are having a chat with their friend. I feel like telling them to leave and did report two people after these two people behind me wouldn't stop talking. I requested a refund and told all the people around me to report them. They were thrown out of the movie and I didn't get a refund, but was able to see the movie for the next showing without paying again.

I think you are right in reporting. People should put more ethics like you did in people that agree to follow the rules and then break them. Good for you!

I have not been to the movies for over 6 years. I just rent from Netflix because it's cheaper and I love it. I don't mind waiting for movies to go on dvd. If there's a new movie coming out in the theatres, I would put that movie in my queue and when it goes on dvd, I'll have it. I don't have to deal with stinky movie theatres that smell like urine, don't have to deal with cellphones ringing and people talking on the phone during the movie, don't have to deal with people talking to each other during the movie, don't have to deal with overpriced snacks and beverages, don't have to deal with not getting good seats, etc. Wheras, watching dvds at home, you'll always have good seats, you can fast forward, pause the movie- if you gotta go use the bathroom, go back if you missed a part, etc. It's not for everybody because some people love going to the movies while they're dating, while they're hanging out with friends, love the ambience of the movie theatres, don't mind paying for overpriced movie tickets, etc.

Yes you have a point. But I think some movies like The Transformers and Hulk you need to watch in the big screen. Maybe that is a good solution if you have a big sccreen in your house for sure.

no lol I can't stand it. My father in law likes to talk during movies and it drives me crazy. My mom will talk through scarey movies. Trying not to jump when something comes out. lol I think its funny that she does that but even though I know why she does it I still would like to focus on the movie.

LOL. So maybe the solution is not watch with father in law at all and keep the horror movies just for yourself. LOL

I do not like it at all. I can not withstand that somebody is talking to me during a movie or some other interesting show. I always want to enjoy, whatever movie or show I'm watching,to the fullest and that can not be done without full concentration. Any kind of talks, even if it is about the movie itself, break my concentration and that of course, irritates me. In such scenario, I usually try to avoid that person or simply ignore him/her. But if this is not possible, I may simply walk out of the theater.

It depends. If they are just whispering and I could barely make out what they're talking about, it's ok I guess. At least they're trying to keep it down. But if I could hear them clearly from at least 5 seats away, that's something else. I'd probably start to look at them. Sometimes, it really gets overboard. Talking continuously for more than 5 minutes is sort of my limit. I'd really confront them at that point. Especially if they voices can easily be heard over explosions and car sounds.

It depend of what movieas i am watching. If the movie is actually interesting i dont even want somebody talking while watching.Specially in the theater. And i dont really understand why people sometimes they are talking while watching in the theater.Thats irritate me a lot.Because i know they come there to watch not talking. My partner always doing the same thing everytime i am watching movie that i like.He tried to get my attention.I cant focus on what he is saying or what i am watching if somebody is talking w/ me.SO i asked every time to give me sometimes or talk later after the suspense scene is finish. Have a nice day enjoy watching... Greetings from Che!

It depends on the movie and the setting where I'm watching it. If I and the other people present have seen the movie before and we're watching it at home, then I don't mind at all if someone starts talking. Heck, I might make a comment or two myself! But if I'm going to see the movie for the first time at a movie theater, I'm much happier if people are quiet so I can watch it (though laughter and gasps and the like are perfectly okay if the movie calls for it).

i think i'm guilty of this one. i always speak to the person i'm with especially if i like one scene. my boyfriend would ask me to shush so i shut up and then when another scene captivates me, i would talk again. it doesn't bother me much if someone talks to me unless i don't want to talk to him/her in the first place.

If I am so focus with the movie and I really like it, I avoid talking with someone, or refuse to talk when someone wants to. But sometimes. we couldn't help giving our ideas and opinion about the scene/ movie so I usually talk with my friend/ boyfriend. If the movie was so predictable, I would make fun of it by spoiling the next scene or situation.Lol, I like watching movies but I rather see the movie at home for me not to annoy anyone. Have fun!
