I guess this is the million-dollar question which nobody has a definite answer to. I have asked quite a few software and hardware vendors and nobody is quite sure. Norton makes your computer slow, avg is not so effective and so on. I am fed up of listening to such comparisons and cannot quite make up my mind as to which is the best. I know every software has it's pros and cons but which is the best from a neutral point of view? Please comment.

To my opinion Bit Defender 2008 is best antivirus that available today. It has got extensive virus scanning capability. Kaspersky antivirus also good to use. But it is difficult to get kaspersky installation key.

Not trying to be a smarty pants but seriously , the absolute best anti-virus is using Linux instead of Windows,Most of the viruses out there are written for windows not Linux. With the supposed number of malware doubling in the past year it makes more sense than ever to use Linux .Personally I like Linux Mint. On a windows box I use AVG free and run ClamwinAV as a portable app. I had Nod 32 and it missed stuff that AVG picked up same for F-Prot Norton is a resource hog. Kaspersky never worked right for me.

Hi, I use both Avira and AVG. They're both very good and easy to use. The best part is--it's free! Just go over to download.com to download the basic type. Of course, you'll be better protected if purchase the real McAffee or Norton. I still think Norton Anti Virus is the best out there but it's so expensive, I just get the free wares. Good luck!
