that your tastes REALLY do change as you get older? I have. Growing up, I hated corned beef, brocoli, pumpkin & cabbage....now I love them - well the cabbage only certain ways. That old wives tale is true :)

Hi, I'm curious about the old wives' tale - what did they said? But it's true that our tastes change - when I was a kid, I hated bitter gourd, eggplants and any green vegetables, and would find 1001 excuses, just to avoid having any of these on my plate. Now, I enjoy eating these , and would usually have vegetables, green or any colour with my meals daily.

Basically the old wives tale that I was told growing up was that your tastes change as you get older...whether it is an old wives tale or not remains to be seen...

Yes, what one will eat does change as one gets older. I suspect some of that is because one gets more exposure to certain foods prepared in a variety of ways; this helps one to realize that foods such as broccoli and cauliflower are actually quite good.

It certainly does. I've noticed a lot of changes. I used to love sweets and real spicy foods (extremes actually) a few years back. As you grow older you find out that you system can't handle this anymore, also we become more health concious in terms of our eating habbits. Somehow vegetables seem to taste better. I hated them being stuffed down my throat along with a long discourse on how good they are...

My taste is almost the same for so many years. I am vegetarian, maybe the reason to stay the same. I love all, but corn and pumpkin. Everything else is the same since I was a child.

Yeah, this is true. I didn't like eating certain dishes that my mom would cook for me and for some reason, I started liking them. I guess the taste buds also change as we grow older. (Wiser tastebuds? Heheh.) I also didn't eat lima beans before but when my aunt cooked a version of it for me, I started chomping them down. So yup, I believe in this.

moonchild1au yes I think they really do as I used to hate the same things but now I love them all and specially nice crisp coleslaw cut very fine with a ranch dressing on it, and fresh broccoli cooked just a few minutes, and love pumpkin pies, and corned beef sandwiches too.

Yes, my tastes have definitely changed, as I grew older. Wen I was litle I absolutely hated to eat liver. Now I love a big plate of liver and onions, with lots of gravy, and mashed potatoes. Yummy!!! I'd love a plate of that right now. I coudln't have imagined eating a big plate of liver and onions when I was little.
