Do you think jobs should help with work schedules due to the high gas prices?

I drive 30 minutes to work and 30 minutes from work every day. Yea I know I could move closer, but that isn't an easy thing to do at the moment. I work for a city and know that they have been discussing changing work schedules to help people out with the gas prices being so super outrageous. Do you think that this is a good idea or a bad idea? why?

The company I work for is great, as is my manager. They really work with you and let you work from home a day or two a week to help out with the gas prices. At the moment I don't take them up on it since I live five minutes from work. At the end of the month I will be driving an hour and a half to work every day and will love being able to work one day a week from home. I think if a company is able to allow you to work from home or work 4-10 hour days to help with gas it would be great. It would definately help employees satisfaction with their job.

OMG I soooo wish my job would let me work from home. That would be great. I hope they at least go the the 4-10 hour days that would be fine with me. I feel for you with that 1 1/2 hour drive.

Can't complain to much about the drive. Because of the long drive, I wont have to pay for rent or utilities. Moving back in with my parents so I can start going to school full time and keep my full time job.

Personally I would love it if my employer would let us work four 10 hour days or even three 12 hour days, but I guess it isn't always the best thing for the employer. I work in a warehouse, so if there is something that needs to be shipped out on a friday then it has to be shipped out on that day. I wish it would be something that could be done. It could even possibly help me cut down on my daycare bill too. Have a good one!

Well I work for the city and I think they are considering the four 10 hour days and doing it where there are people working everyday. I am really excited and hope that they do it. It would so help me save on gas. I drive so far and spend so much money on gas that it's like working just to pay for my gas. LOL
