I have a new friend... who lives in my bathroom...

The other day I was brushing my teeth and when I went down to spit... I saw a huge earwig on my faucet staring at me! Of course I ran out of the bathroom and finished brushing my teeth in the kitchen sink... The next morning I noticed the little guy (or gal?) had moved onto my plastic shelves next to the sink... I was fine with this because it wasn't near me. Now.. the earwig has climbed under my plastic drawers and seems to have taken up residence there. Ain't that sweet? S/he must know how much I love animals... but I am still afraid of the thing!! Ahhhh...

Minus flies, I don't kill anything. However I remove invaders from my home. If I didn't get it one of the cats definitely would. When are you going to start feeding it? Have you named your new roommate? They eat all kinds of stuff. Like potatoes, grapes, celery and insects. It is harmless so I guess it is safe to share your home with it. Now let me ask this... If you move are you going to take your new friend with you?

I guess I will name it "Sam" since I don't know if it's a male of female. Maybe I will put a grape out and see if it eats it lol... I would not be taking it with me, unless it somehow climbed into my things and I didn't notice :P

Ewwww, I hate them. I would kill it...grrr!!! At least that's what my first thought would be....however perhaps I would use my glass to take it outside. I hate insects like that...they freak me out!

Eek! My fiance freaked me out one day telling me stories about earwigs, which are apparently prevalent here in Washington. We saw one at the bus stop on Saturday night, and now I'm squicked out yet again!

Well I don't even know what that is, but props to you for allowing it to live out it's little life. I would have gotten rid of it. Immediately after screaming, of course!

You must really love animals. I do too! But, insects are not welcome in my home. I kill them or have my hubby kill them for me. Sorry! But, they are intruders that really creep me out. My neighbor actually picks bugs up with either her bare hands or a piece of paper and takes them outside to put back into nature. The thing about that is, they sometimes turn right back around and come back inside. So, I prefer not to take that chance. I say, either kill it or get it on or in something where you can take it far enough away from your house that it won't easily find its way back in, and release it. You don't want that thing finding a home in you.

These kind of bugs send shiffers down my spine, as long as they don't get on me it's okay but I just don't want to thouch or feel this animals. When I'm affraid of picking a bug up with my bare hands I put a glass over it and I use a leaflet or sheet of paper to shove under it and that way I take them outside, it's a great help when removing spiders etc. from your home when you boyfriend is not in the neighbourhood or when working with children and you don't want to pass on the fear. By putting the bug in the glass you prevent children from squising them and give them the chance of thouroughly looking at them. This way children will less notice (they'll know, they have antenna for these things!) that you're scared and you can prevent the bug from getting splattered and you don't have to pick them up barehanded either.

One of the spiders that obviously didn't read the long term eviction notice I have for them had a bunch of baby spiders in a fold of my vinyl shower curtain...I gathered them up in a plastic tub and took them outside...I may have left the parents outside with them at a later stage! I don't mind moths and butterflies..I'll catch them in my hands and carry them out,but anything else,it's catch and release time! I NEVER liked earwigs! I got one on my jacket during the week and flicked it off thru the material..it scuttled off..

Thanks molly, I learned something new with this discussion. I had no clue what an earwig was. Eeeewwww. I'm afraid I would have to have it exterminated or removed in someway. I would scare me. Plus, I'm afraid I would never feel clean in that bathroom if I kept it as a roommate.

Earwigs are so gross, and they pinch! My parents old house used to get them pretty bad, and we were always killing the things. We asked where they came from, so maybe we could try and get rid of them. They said that they were from the cypress mulch that is brought in for lanscaping. We quit buying that kind of mulch and they became way less the following year.
