Sort of. I think it depends on how shy you are. Me, although i am a girl and not a guy, find i miss out of alot because of being to shy to do something or talk to someone. But i know some other shy people that are yet more open then me.

I have social anxiety and a fear of being rejected so i never initiate in real life. Although online i find it easier to talk to people.

i definately know how it feels, and what you mean...i am shy to the point that i won't initiate, and i have to know someone for a while before i will start talking, could take weeks, even months of knowing them and being around them before i get to that point...lol all my life it has been others approaching me, never figured out how that worked

No, it is not a matter of who finishes first but who comes out best in the end. A shy guy make not appear to be doing well socially but a good relationship depends on being good friends and that does not happen instantly. It takes time to develop a solid relationship/

I don't think so. Not all the time anyway. My husband is very shy. I ask him out on our first date..lol. There is nothing wrong with being shy. Just be open should something come your way and you'll be fine! Also, try talking to people more. I was shy when younger but now I'm very outgoing. If you put yourself out there it gets easier.

i still haven't figured out if i am shy because of my depression, or low self-confidence, or if it is a social anxiety issue...still working on that one

I see. I reckon it would be harder with depression issues. You aren't shy here on mylot. Maybe it will help in "real" life also. I hope so anyway.

i find that it doesn't actually, which is odd if you think about it. I just can never think of anything to say...and i guess either from low self-confidence, experiences from my past, or the depression, i just don't believe anyone wants me around, i am having a really tough time getting my head around that one, once i know someone i can talk up a storm
