Where do you put your shoes?

I was watching The View a little while back and Whoopie was talking about whether or not people took off their shoes when entering a house. Theirs or when visiting of course. And they were talking about all the things that get on your shoes as you go about your day.
So I got to wondering what people do with their shoes. My family and I have a shoe corner by the door that we all put our shoes in when we come in. Special shoes that have been wandering outside in the yard or park go in what we call the middle room, by the back door. This is in case someone has some mishap and stepped where they shouldn't have.
Got any shoe storing ideas? Do you favor a shoe rack? Or maybe one of those hanging shoe organizers?

I always enter the house through the garage. If my shoes are dirty or muddy at all I take them off in the garage and they sit by the door that leads into the house. If they are not dirty then they go next to the inside of the door. Extra shoes are kept in the closet across from the washer and dryer.

If we had an attached garage we would definitely keep our shoes out there.

I actually do not take off my shoes when I come into my house unless they are visibly muddy ect. I just walk around with them on and clean the carpet. They live in my closet in my bedroom. Many people just put shoes in their garage or entry way. I use a shoe rack in my closet, one that I just built using some boards I had around the house.

I used to do that before I thought about what all could be lurking on them.
