Pdfs and word

Sorry if this sounds really stupid to anyone, but I'm currently looking for work and having computer problems. Lots of applications are in pdf format-how do we write on these things? For my last three computers I've been unable to access microsoft word. I think we're supposedto enter the code on the bottom/back, but mine didn't work. This wasn't a problem before, I just used works, but now I'm getting application forms in word format. Please help me before I am unemployed forever.

Download the free OpenOffice and install it, this is the equivalent of MS office and the 'Write' application is the equivalent of ms word to open doc files, edit it and save it. To edit application forms in PDF you need an application such as Foxit http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php another free ware program.
