How weird is this!! A mixed race couple have had twin boys named Ryan and Leo. Mu Florence is from Ghana, Western Africa and dad Stephan is from Potsdam, Germany. The twins were born on July 11 but were kept away from the public until the press could be invited to see them. Doctors say it is an extremely rare occurrence, but it is possible if genes combine in a certain way. "Ryan came first, and everything was as usual," said the hospital's doctor Birgit Weber. But when Leo was born, I couldn't believe my eyes." The doctor who has been present for about 10,000 births over 20 years had never seen anything like this. "Both kids have definitely the same father," she added. Do you think this amazing or strange?? Wont this affect the children when they grow up, children being as spiteful as they can be may tell them that they arent really brothers, that their parents maybe adopted them or they have different fathers or something.

It is interesting how genes can mix...or rather, not mix! I went to school with "mixed" siblings. The mom was very blonde and petite, the dad was very dark skinned and tall. Their daughter was dark and tall, her older brother was blond and short. They constantly had to tell people that yes they had the same parents, no neither was adopted. It was hard but they both dealt with it well. I can only remember one occasion it was really awkward...our psychology teacher had us do an excercise of splitting ourselves up into groups based on how we perceived ourselves. One of the "social groups" was by race...black to one side, white to the other...broher and sister looked at each other and went to opposite sides....then the girl cried and had to leave the room as she was the only one on the black side and even her own brother couldn't classify himself with her. It was horrible, it upset her so badly.

I've not heard of twins like this but I have a friend whose mother is mixed race west Indian. He has very olive skin and dark hair and his sister has white skin and blonde hair.

Now this is really strange and it tops anything else I have heard. There was a story on 20/20 a couple of years ago where a couple that had been artificially inseminated had one child that was theirs, and another that was from another father. Somehow the sperm was mixed between two donors, and one came out black. This was a white couple by the way. Then, just last year on the Maury Povich show, a woman was on there to prove that the twins she just had; again, one black, one white, were her boyfriend's children. This was an interracial couple. Turns out she was cheating, because the paternity test proved that one child was her boyfriend's, the other wasn't!!! Now this, I wonder what the science is behind this situation. Since both children are his, I am guessing there are some recessive genes on one side or another that showed in one child, and not the other. They had to be fraternal twins, just as the others that I mentioned, but I wonder what conditions had gone on in order for one twin to show his mothers traits, and the other his fathers.

I once read a story in a magazine and seen a tv programme where a mother had a DNA test to prove she was the mother and it didnt match the childrens. Their is a name for this I think, but she had to try and prove that although her DNA didnt match she was still the mother of the children and that infact she did give birth to the children.

Wow! I think that this is really funny. You would expect that twins of a mixed raced couple would both be mixed raced too. However one twin is white and the other twin is black. Ryan and Leo are not identical but very special considering their differences. It is amazing when something so unusual happens. I have read about a black person having a white child so that is also amazing. I hope that Ryan and Leo grow up without nasty comments. They are twin brothers but will people be able to understand this I wonder. Good luck to Ryan and Leo.

It is weird although I have heard of mixed race couples having completely white children before. I have never heard of it happening with twins though. I expect there will be spiteful people in their lives that will try and say that the mum must have had an affair or that they cannot be brothers but I am sure that they will be able to overcome it.

That is really amazing and weird. I think this is the first time I heard of this incident. Wow one black and one white. Let's just hope that the two would not doubt their being twins because of the color of their skin.

wow! its amazing! never heard of it... well, God has his own ways to show miracles. I think its one of his ways to make people stop discrimination too... Well, the twins will definitely hav problems in growing up... probably one is always being teased, one will envy the other, etc... but then since they are siblings, they shouldn't fight. It's for sure God's challenge to the twins, to learn to accept their differences.
