search on the internet - illustration of searching on the internet
Hi, I am going to college online and the professors have firmly told us students that we cannot use Wikipedia for research material. The reason is because Wikipedia information can be edited and changed to anything you want to put in there. Therefore it is not a credible resource. The only way to avoid this is to use other forms of reference like in your library. There is a lot of information on the internet that is not reliable, so be careful. Have a great day! Char

I'm a teacher and i tell my students not to rely on wikipedia to get accurate information for school assignments, since if you register you can edit the information on it, so there's no assurance that the info and data are accurate! I usually check wikipedia to get general information on things i don't know, like an actor or place, but i regard the information as what a friend could tell me about it. To get accurate information about things i prefer going to a real encyclopedia. Cheers!
