How would you you feel if a beggar approach you for money while your are eating out in an open air restaurant? Do you have sympathy for him and give him the money or would ask him to go away? I had many such experiences . Mostly I would just give him some coins just to make him go away as fast as possible. There were times when some beggars would ask for money from people at the autoteller machine or anywhere near the banks. Do you think they are too much?

There is hardly any beggars in Singapore so I do not face such a problem at home. When I was in Shanghai in January, I witnessed the begging of beggars on the streets. They usually hang out outside hotels and they always ambush passer bys. We were told by our tour guide never to give money. The reason is once you give one, the other beggars will immediately rush to you to get money from you too. I sympathize with those old beggars more. Most likely they are abandoned by their kids. I do not like those beggars who bring their kids along to beg. Why can't they find a proper job and earn money? Why do they use their young kids to earn sympathy?

Some beggers are under organised syndicate. So they are working... as beggers!

that's never happened to me but I think I'd be more inclined to give him the food.
