My paypal got limited a few days ago. They sent me an email saying that i account was limited because they need further verification. I have already got my bank account verified and i have been with them for around a year now. I can't receive, send or transfer any money to my bank account. I have $10 in my paypal account and another $70 was meant to be coming in the next month!!! This is complete nonsense!!! I have done nothing wrong!!! I have also sent many emails to them asking them why my account needs further verification but they only sent we a message saying what having a limited account means! Which i wasn't the question i asked them. I tried again but they sent me the exact same message! I can't even get my money that i earned fair and square for that is in my paypal account. However, as i did a quick google search i also found out that i am not the only one... I have heard other stories whereby the same thing happened to other people and their accounts got permanently deleted and paypal took all their money. I can't even open up a new account and add my bank account to it because then paypal will know and limit my new account as well. Has a similar thing happened to you?

I have been with PayPal for many years and never have had a problem since the day I started there. The only thing I've ever had to do was update a credit card to a later date. I have had money transferred from my account to my bank account on many occasions. Have you gone directly to PayPal yourself and seen your account? I do know that there are spam emails going out that look identical to a PayPal email. I have gotten many of those same emails telling me my account has been suspended, etc. I found out it is only Spam. If you replied to the email that you got, then you aren't talking to Paypal but someone trying to get your information to get your money. You need to go directly to PayPal's site, not through and email and check this out. I hope that you haven't been taken by an illegitimate person. Never reply to any emails that come from PayPal or any other place like a bank, etc. They would never ask for your information without you contacting them first. Always go directly to their site by typing in the correct address and that way you know you are in the correct site, not a look alike.

I checked it in my paypal account as well, when i logged in i got a message saying saying my account is limited. I know if i get spam emails or not. Just look at the email it was sent from if it doesn't end with "@paypal.com" then it is spam. I never fall for that.

Are you sure? Every illegitimate email i got never had exactly "@paypal.com.au" at the end. That does remind me however, that you can send any email poses as any email you wish. I remember that i bookmarked that page that tells you how to do it but i don't have it anymore since firefox stuffed up and my bookmarks got wiped.

Yes, I am sure. And the URL within the email looked fine, but, if you cursored over it, it would say it didn't match. When I see one from 'paypal', I just delete it because it usually says something similar and I know my account is fine. You are right. An email can be sent by anyone with 'anyone's' address. I know. I've gotten emails from myself (actually not me), and it looks legit, until you get to looks at the ISP numbers.

you need to try and get a hold of pay pal because my husband got a couple of those you need to verify your pay paly account and well his banking information was stolen and he had to get new credit/debit card and bank account number. Did you try to get into your old one?

Hopefully, gloam hasn't been taken by a spam email. I get those emails all the time that look exactly like it's coming from PayPal, but my email catches it as spam. If anyone will just run their cursor over the URL, then they would realize that the address is not the same as the legitimate PayPal account URL.

Its pretty obvious to tell whether or not it comes from paypal or not. Just look at the address it came from.

are you sure you are dealing with paypal. Most of the time that I get these emails they are not from paypal but from hackers that are trying to get you to give them your email and paypal account information, If you keep sending the same email back to them by replying to the email you get you will get the same answer, they have a copy of your account at paypal but they can't get in without you providing them your information that allows them to get into your account, ONe thing paypal told e was if they send you an email, it will call you by your first and last name, if any email you get says anything other than your complete name then it is not a paypal email, you say you keep getting the same message that is because you are being rerouted to their site ( not paypal's site) and you can't use the account that they have set up, so please check it out before giving them any information, because once they get what they need anything you have in paypal is gone they will take it.

Im 100% sure it is an email that sends me the same answer. Its proper and everything, it even calls me by by real name. They keep sending me the same answer because they don't want to give me a reason why they are doing it. They limit my account so i can't access my funds and hope that i can't fully verify my account so that paypal can take all my money.

This has never happened to me. However I think you should call them. Their phone # is (402)935-2050. Call them every day. Call them several times a day. Ask them what you need to do to reinstate your account. Then do what ever they want you to do if you want your money. If they will not reinstate it then call them several times a day. 402-935-2050 is Paypal's phone number. Notice that it isn't on their front page. When I discovered it I wrote in on a piece of clear tape and attached it to my monitor. Good luck. Also don't forget the holy water. I heard it comes in handy when you are fighting evil.

Can you add a parent's name to the account and use their credit card? If not you can use it as a savings. You will collect interest on the money until you get a credit card.

I already know what to do to get my account back but i can't do it because i don't have a credit card and i can't get one because i am too young. I also need to get bills and photo id (passport or driver's license). Since i don't have either i can't get my account back. Yes i logged into my actual account to see if i could still transfer money to my bank account but i couldn't.

really! well, just registered recently to paypal and haven't verified yet my account because im still for my debit card from unionbank ., well i've heard a lot of things with regards to paypal and a lot of them saying that paypal is secured and safe ., did you ever asked them what to do for you to claim your money to them ., there must be a way because that was your money ., they shouldn't just take that away from you ., thats unfair!

I asked them already if they can send me a cheque but they replied with the definition of what having a limited paypal account is which really annoys me because i feel like i am talking to an answering machine that sends you the same message over and over regardless of what you say to them.

Paypal may require additional information to protect your security. I think it is required to get verified from time to time as the account may be hacked and could nd up in the wrong hands
• Australia
20 Jul 08
That doesn't protect my security at all. By submitting more pieces of confidential information a hacker is more likely to steal more info about me. The purpose of submitting more information is for paypal to make sure that i am really who i claim to be and quite frankly they need more than just a bank account.

I have never had problems with Paypal myself, but I must say that I have seen emails claiming to be from them in my Spam folder with messages similar to what you mention. I am sure those emails were not from the real Paypal, but just spams!

I got stung by one of those fake emails that looked like it was from paypal so now what I do is email paypal when I get a paypal email even if its from them alot of times its not and I will open a new page and go to my account. Someone booked a trip on through my paypal account using one of those emails b/c I didn't know about the fake ones back then. I hope they catch all those jerks who are doing it and thats why I always send them those emails.

I used to never get spam at all but since i started signing up to stuff like various offers on PTS sites i've recieved a lot of spam not just from the things i subscribe to either. I hate those sad people who send malicious emails hoping to steal our money.

I also had my account limited.I only had 2cents there so I don't woory about that. They said some third party tried to access your account and limite it.I haven't logged in there. They were saying they will delete the acount if you remain inactive but I don't have a credit card for verification. So I have left the account. I have made 2 more accounts and till now they haven't been limited.I hope that's because I don't have money in it. Hope your account will work fine again

We also had a problem with my sister's credit card verification process. She asked me to link her credit card to her paypal account. I carefully followed the steps as instructed and by doing so, her card was charged $1.95 but when we got the credit card statement, there were only 2 digits next to the word "xpuse" and after putting it in the correct field on the verification page, it wouldn't get accepted. We tried to add two zeroes before that number but it didn't make any difference until the card got totally rejected. It said we had to send over the copy of the card statement but I said "no way" because it's highly secure information. But they never put back the $1.95 charge. I got a very late reply to the 3 messages I sent them explaining my problem in full detail and all I got was totally nonesense. It's like something copied and pasted from FAQ. It didn't help at all. Not only I lost the $1.95 for nothing but also, I can't use that card anymore to verify my sister's account. Up to now, we're stuck with that problem. Unless we're ready to risk another card again. I have my own paypal account but I had managed to verify that with my payoneer card though.

True. The message they sent me was also exactly as if they just copied the message that explains what having a limited account means. They keep sending it like they don't care what we say to them.

if this email didnt address you by name.. and only reffered to you as "dear paypal member" it is one of those scams where someone is stealing identities. i too have gotten several of them myself and in calling paypal in regards to it, they informed me that it wasnt from their site and to NOT go to the link provided and input my personal info.. and i was also told that NO email from them would ever be casually addressed without them naming me specifically.

good day.. You should check it thoroughly with paypal and if it were true that they are taking advantages of it's clients and withholding their money even when proper verification was done, then you should take proper or legal action against them.

I think Alertpay also asked their members for verification just like Paypal. When I joined Paypal , I had to register in a different country because my country wasn't included in Paypal before so when my country finally supported Paypal I had to email tehm regarding my concern if I could change my country which I unfortunately can not. So they advice me to make a new account and delete the first account. I added a credit card so I do not have the same problem as with you because I had my card verified using their systems 4 digit code that was billed to me my credit card days after. That code made my Paypal verified, plus when you transact with people who have are also verified you get some sort of points or number of transactions that you can see beside your name. But before becoming verified , I think they only limit like $500 amount for spending using card per month. Alertpay has only $250 I think. Paypal's customer service is stupid, because I have experienced a bad thing too but not too similar with your situation. They are stupid because they don't answer your questions. They just give you information. I can sometimes think that they don't really read your emails.

I know! They didn't answer my question either. They gave me information that was pointless because they sent it to me before. I don't think the number of transactions you make give you a better chance of being "safe". Someone else still got their account limited even after having 2000 transactions.

This is what is commonly called a "phishing" e-mail. When you get these suspect e-mails what you should do is forward them to: spoof@paypal.com I went so far as to put: spoof@paypal.com into my address book. Now, when I get one of these suspect e-mails I merely forward it to them. If it is what I think it is, paypal will send me back an e-mail that basically says thank you for reporting this to them and that they are working on disabling the site. I hope this puts your mind at ease. IT PROBABLY IS NOT TRUE. Good luck.

I've never had any problems with Paypal, but if I were you I would keep bothering them or try to find another way to communicate with them to confirm what transpired. Did someone other than you try to access your account and is that why they need further verification? I did have a problem with Ebay inasmuch as my account was suspended because an unauthorized user hacked into my account. It took months to clear up, but now I'm finally back on Ebay. I hope you can resolve your issue with Paypal in less time though.

They won't give me the exact reason why they limited my account in the first place. I don't know if i should buy a phone card so i can call the support centre because it would cost me $10 to buy the phone card to get back my $10 in my account.

Pay Pal isn't evil. There are lots of reasons why you may be limited. As has been stated, it could have been a scam, Pay pal does not send emails like that ever they let you discover it yourself when you log in. second, you are under age you get ripped off or scammed you can hold them liable, I wouldn't give a minor an account either. plus there is the fact if one of the sites you are recieving money from is illegal they will limit your account for that as well. pyramids, and the such are illegal and if you take part in them you will lose your paypal account. You should get all your facts before you call condemn a site you are the one that violated the TOS so don't blame them for following the rules you ignored

I am still new in this site and still do not have any idea on how they have to pay me for I am located in Kuwait and Paypal is not working in here so I guess they would have to pay through Moneybookers Account but not so sure either if they will really pay through and how is the systematic rule to transfer it in the Bank Account.......
