Last week it was announced that our Starbucks was closing in August. Last night my daughter-in-law and granddaughter came over and she ran out to this little store where both of us love the clothes..Cato's...it had cute clothes at reasonable prices. She talked to the manager and it's also closing Aug. 2. Do you have any of your favorite stores that are closing in the near future?

Hey jillhill. So far, I don't know of any shops closing. But, I sure hate to hear that about your Starbucks and clothing store. They just built the very first free-standing Starbucks in our town, but I'm afraid they're not gonna open it as Starbucks announced intentions to close 500 or 600 stores over the next year about 3 or 4 weeks ago. We do have a Starbucks inside our Target, but that's not like being able to go through a drive through or go hang out at a free-standing Starbucks, which we both love to do. Hope you have another Starbucks in town.

Gosh, jillhill, that is too bad that you are losing your only Starbucks! I just heard on CNN within the last 30 minutes that people--customers, mayors, politicians and others in small towns where the only Starbucks are closing are emailing, writing and calling the Starbucks corp. like crazy, begging them to keep the places open. You might want to try that along with some of your neighbors. They just might respond to it. I'd have a fit if our only Starbucks (currently in Target) announced it was closing. Good luck, jillhill.

well, at the moment I don;t hear any thing like that in my country. Maybe that happens because of the crisis we are facing now. This is a global crisis I know so, almost all people in the world are affected with this.

It's so hard to believe that so many are affected. It is truly a global crisis!

Many stores in my area have closed. I am sure more will leave this year, as people go to the $1.00 and under stores. This area had two K-mart Stores close and one was a good store. We lost a plant nursery and a couple grocery stores moved to better areas of town.

THat's too bad isn't it? I really like this store as it had upbeat moderately priced clothes that were also very good! It will be a loss for alot in the community!

I haven't had a store I love close but I bet it will happen in the near future. Hardees in a town about 40 miles away from me closed its doors with no warning they put up a sign that said closed and that was it. The economy is going to start taking a toll on the littier stores I am afraid.

I think you are right...this was the only store they had in Minnesota..it was kind of a test store but I loved it. The nearest one is now 150 miles from here...it's really too bad!

The fact that stores are closing isn't a sign of the times. Starbucks is closing a lot of their locations because the opened way too many that are close together, meaning that they were competing with themselves. It's a business strategy that has nothing to do with the times. As for little stores, those are always opening and closing. Most small businesses don't last the first year and rarely last more than 5 years. It's just business, nothing more, nothing less.

Well so far i didnt hear about any of my stores closing but because of inflation and the price of everything going up, I can't shop at my favorite store. What a bummer. Take care and God Bless!

Ummm, well I was a little sad when my favorite hip hop urban store closed and no one told me! So I know that I missed out on some great deals!

That was a bummer! Too bad you didn't know about it. I went this morning and got one shirt and it was way marked down.
