I am having a spiritual dilema here. Maybe you can help. I am having a hard time driving to work every day and seeing so many homeless. It doesnt matter which exit I take someone is standing with a sign. I have tried taking extra food in my lunch to share. I know there are homeless shelters to help them and the state will help this one women that says she is a homeless mom. In fact the state would give her immediate shelter and food. The words of Jesus runs through my mind "whatever you do to the least of my brothers." I sometimes dont have food in the house and have to eat at a friends or my Dads. the pay check does not spread far but I am trying and God always sees me through what would you do???

I would pray to God and ask Him. Pray that this woman is resting on your heart, and you do the possible. That would be to stop and give her a couple of sandwhiches, and a applesauce cup for her child. When you hand her the sack lunch maybe put some scripters in her bag. Letting her know God's love, and maybe ask your preacher at your church to donate an old bible and next time give that to her. (I know that there are several shelters, but the state is running out of money also. There may not be room for her and her child, or whatever.) Then let God do the impossible - Maybe get a break on your check or whatever. Remember the story in Mark chapter 6 where Jesus fed 5000? They only had 5 loaves of bread, and 2 fish. Jesus broke the bread, and the fish and fed 5000. Same thing goes here. Pray for the impossible, and you do the possible. It doesn't have to be much, if nothing more, just show your love and care to this woman. She may not know what God can do for her and her child. Invite her to your church, and offer to pick her up. I know it sounds outlandish, but what do you have to loose? I'm not trying to lecture. My preacher just did a serman on this. So, it's still really fresh in my head. Sorry if I sound that way. But I hope I'm giving you some ideas.

i will add, there was a man in the street the other day asking for money. There was a tug in my heart, and I gave him money. If he was a scam, then he did a mighty fine job fooling lots of people. He looked so appreciated when the money has handed to him. He used God to bless and thank us, and it was one of those time I feel that I did the right thing. I really felt that poor man was having hard times. Then a few streets down, a man approached my car,and I rolled up the windows and locked the doors and didn't stop. He felt creepy to me. I know God was in our presense that day I gave that poor man money. I can feel when He's there and when He's not. When He's not I get scared and lock the doors. I know that's probably bad because we should treat all men equal, but you have to watch out for Satan also. Scary stuff.

When I lived in california this was the same way. people with signs everywhere. I did some volunteer work at the rescue mission for a year or so with my friend that was running it and well a lot of those people are not homeless that are standing out there holding up signs. Yes there are some that are and well you have to follow your heart on that. I never give money but if I am going through a drive through I will grab some extra and give to a homeless person now and again. But there is a group that are in a scam. In other words people who do not want to get jobs and have homes and such but just rather stand out there. There was a thing awhile back on homeless people and scams. They sent someone in under cover to sit with these people and half of em just do it for the money and even get their kids involved because well if you see a young person you feel worse than when you see an older person.

Ya a big scam in most area's. Sad really especially when there are real homeless out there and with all the scams no one can tell who is who. Thats why I follow my heart on it.

Thank you so much. All that goes through my mind. They even did a program here in Detroit on one of these men. They followed him home. He had a house and everything and begging was his job. Some use it for there habits.

The Bible says that the poor will always be among you but, we all have a choice in life so you have to be careful how you treat people, because we never know that could be us one day. My grandfather taught me along time ago that trust your first mind which is God who made you. Always remember live for god not man, but treat your fellow man how you want to be treated with resepect and a open mind. Peace out my brothers and sisters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i once felt that way. i would see so many people or sometimes just one. but none the less their they were. what i used to do was if i was going to mc donallds or something like that i would buy a happy meal and the first person i saw who needed it got it. sometimes i would end up bringing it home- but most often i would find someone to give it to. i dont believe in giving them money since they might spend it on booze so i would buy food for them. who knows maybe those little gesters helped, maybe they didn't. but anytime i could give some food even if it was an apple or some fruit or what ever it usually went to them. maybe if you find something similar then things will work out for you. maybe what you can do is buy them a happy meal and pick up an application for them as well. take time to help them fill it out and really get to know the person. maybe what you need to do is start small. after all every journey begins with a single step. (i know cliche- but hey it works)
