What do you think is the most important issue for the upcoming election in November? Is it the economy, oil, Iraq, or something else? Also, what is your hot topic issue - the one issue that you have such strong opinions about that the canditate MUST agree with you in order for you to vote for him? For me, the most important issue is the economy. I know we're not technically in a recession, but for alot of us, it certainly feels that way. Something needs to be done to stop the high inflation we're having (lower cost of oil would help!) My hot topic issue is probably taxes...I feel that I'm taxed to death (income tax, state tax, city tax, property tax, sales tax, etc). I don't want to pay anymore taxes and I think that I could definately use my own money better than the goverment! So what about you?

For me, the most important issue of this election is fighting Islamism and closing our borders. Nothing else will matter if we are forced to convert or die. We think we have problems now, just wait...

You said "fighting Islamism"; was that what you meant to say or did you mean "Islanm EXTREMISTS"? Annie

You have a good point there Whatshername. And kenny also has a good point about Obama...you should not be forced to volunteer. That sounds an awful lot like communism to me!

No one is ever going to force me to volunteer for anything. Even if I want to volunteer, I won't simply because I won't be forced. Yup Annie, I meant what I said "Islamism" our enemy has a name and I plan to use it, I got it from this article. http://www.danielpipes.org/article/5629 I know it's hard to see our enemy for most Americans. They don't understand the religion it's creator or even the fact that it's a cult that plans to dominate the world by force if necessary. It's right in front of us in black and white yet we still don't see it. It's evil verses good, plain as day and still we are worried about taxes and gas. It lurks all around us now even in our country and we don't see it because we are worried about being politically correct so we won't hurt their feelings. There are so many, I can't ever remember an election when everything seems like THE big issue, if you know what I mean. I mean, if all else was going pretty well but gas cost over $4 a gallon we'd think things were bad and that would be the issue. The same could be said about just about everything else because there's really nothing that's going well right now, is there? The war, health care, the economy, jobs, heating costs and gas... "It's the economy stupid" could work again but it's not just the economy. I guess my hot topic issue would have to be Iraq because I think the war has directly or indirectly affected so many other things adversely and we need to have some kind of an intelligent plan for getting out. Yes, the Iraq war has really hit a lot of people's hot buttons. And there are so many issues that need to be dealt with this year. I just wish we had two stronger candidates than the ones we have that may be able to take on much of these important issues. I don't feel either canditate will be able to make much headway with the important issues once they were in office.

The biggest issue to me in the upcoming election is closing our borders. Illegal immigration has gone unchecked for too long and we must reel it back into check. Second to that is the economy. Oil and food prices are on the rise, families are making a choice between having the money to get to work, or putting food on the table and either way leads to more problems. However, that being said, I'm not sure that anyone elected to the White House will have enough to do anything about it.

Right now the issue on the minds of most Americans is the price of oil and the economy because they're effecting so many of us in so many ways. This is not to say that we're no longer concerned about security, it's just that these issues are in the forefront because we're dealing with them daily. If something happens to threaten or question our security that will become the most important issue again. I don't have one hot button issue...yet.
