I was just watching a program about hypnosis. I have a hard time believing in it. Hypnosis is defined as an "artificially induced trance state resembling sleep, characterized by heightened susceptibility to suggestion." Do you believe in hypnosis? Have you ever been hypnotized or seen anyone else be hypnotized?

so coincidently that two days ago i saw a live show on Tv, a young man was hypnotized and than he lay down between two benches like a bridge. then a girl about 50kg stood on his abdomen. Finally, he was waked up and asked how he felt. he answered, I felt some thing pressed on my body but not heavry so there was no any uncomfortable feeling. now, i believe in hypnosis in some degree.

I'm not really sure that I believe it works. I guess I would have to be hypnotized first and have somebody I trust with me, so they can tell me if it really worked and what I said and did.

Yes, I believe in and have really wanted to do it. I think it could be most effective through normal everyday life we are not able to reach back way deep in our minds and cleanse them. Meditation could also be effective and you get better over time.

Hypnosis is a natural state that most people go in and out of everyday. There is nothing "magical" about it. There are many misconceptions about hypnosis. One is that the hypnotist has control over your will. Nobody has control over your will. Hypnosis works with the imagination, which is sort of a bridge to the subconscious. Hypnosis cannot make you do anything you do not want to do. Let's say that you want to lose weight. Your "willpower" says that you are really going to do it this time. Then the imagination enters. It subtly reminds you of how many times you have tried it and failed, It tells you can't do it. Sometimes this is an unconscious process. Then you look at yourself and all you see is the weight you want to lose. It becomes all you think about... There is a general rule that when the will opposes the imagination, the imagination wins. Every time. If you want to be thin, and all you think about is fat, it will be very difficult to reach your goal, mainly because you are reinforcing your subconscious mind with images of what you don't want. Getting your imagination in line with your will, seeing what you DO want, instead of what you don't can get you to your goals much faster and easier than willpower alone. Using hypnosis, you can get your imagination going in the same direction as your will and then you will create what you want in your life. By the way, hypnosis is not something to believe in, it is a medical fact and was accepted by the American Medical Association in the 1950's as a viable treatment method. In my 17 years as a hypnotherapist, I have never met a person who wanted to be hypnotized that couldn't be...
