I love the show One Tree Hill. One reason for that is because it starts each episode off with a quote from literature. That prompted me to try and create a post full of literary quotes. What are your favorite literary quotes?

'All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others'. George Orwell wrote that in his book Animal Farm. It is the quote that I like most of all. It is exactly true and can be seen on different levels in life and situations.

Yes, I love that book as well. I am a primary school teacher so children that I teach discover picture books. I think being a secondary school English teacher would be a great job and perhaps teaching post 16 or university students would be just as interesting.

Love that book. I have taught it many times and use that quote as a writing prompt. It really gets the students to think about our society and the values that we have. We are all created equal, but some are definately more equal than others. Isn't that a shame:(

Yes teaching high school literature is amazingly fun. I used to teach seniors and that was the most fun that I have ever had teaching because they get so involved in the discussions. I teach 7th grade Language Arts now and it is like pulling teeth for discussion sometimes:)

my favorite quote is from the Bible, its in Colossian 3:23-24 "Whatever you do, work it with all of your heart as if working for the Lord not for man, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." - i think about this a lot especially if I get frustrated at work. for a funny quote, i always thought of what my sister shared with me. Her classmate told her this "Practice makes perfect. but nobody's perfect. so why practice?". i told my mom this and she just laughed.

Love that scripture from the Bible. I write down favorite passages at the end of my Bible and will have to add that one to it. It is so true for everyday living. Thanks for the inspiration. I love your sister's quote, too. Very humorous. I am a teacher and I can really appreciate a student saying that. Thanks

Love the Forest Gump quote. There are so many good quotes from that movie. It could be a post all to itself.

I have a couple: I think this is from shakespeare: "Golden girls and boys all must, as chimney sweeps come to dust" This is one I came up with (lol): "If others can do it, let them do it." And this when I try to motivate myself: "Life doesn't come with a snooze button"

Not sure if that was Shakespeare or not, but I like it. It is so true. I like your own quote, as well. That is a motto to live by:) The last one is for my wife, she hits her snooze 6-7 times each morning. Drives me nuts:) THanks

Am actually taking classes now to become a childrens writer. I also like quotes and I like coming up with my own. One that I came up with is "Life don't come with an eraser so don't F things up." Robert Wilkins. The F is actually a F not refering to the F word. I see it like this you use erasers in school and get grades from A's to F's and just like in life you can have an A life or a F life and once you have one you can't erase it. They can change from A to F or F to A but once you have one you cant change it only try to improve it.

Cool quote and analogy to go with it. Not sure that you could use that in a children's book or classroom, though, becuase everyone will think it is the "F" word. I like it, though.

lol I agree. I plan to write for more than just children though. I'm just planning to start with children and teenagers and then later on work on something more for the adults.
