Spotted in Russia

In the Toronto Star this past weekend, a reporter announced that while travelling in Russia this past May, she and her friends stumbled upon the ending leg of an Amazing Race episode. She said they saw Phil Keoghan standing with a guy waiting at a mat and two young guys came running up to the mat. I checked out the video on the Toronto Star website. I found it weird that the end of a leg was in such a public place. They were in the middle of a public square. Usually they are someplace private or secluded like the top of a hill. Producers told the women to stop filming and they did. They figure it was near the end of the race. So they have filmed it already, when are we going to get to see it? When is the next season of the Amazing Race going to start? Don't you find it cool that they actually saw this? What's even cooler is that while filming they could be heard to say that the show's cameras were on the OTHER side meaning they were probably in the tape. I am going to have to watch out and see if I see them in the background when it finally comes on. Have you ever stumbled upon a movie or television show shooting?

First, I'm glad to hear that they're in the process of filming! I know I've read about it recently but it's been awhile since the last one. I've been getting antsy! LOL Maybe they'll have it ready for a fall premiere? Or at the least a winter time slot. I know there's a lot of footage they would have to edit and get ready to air. Whatever they decide to do, I can't wait. It's one of my favorite shows. To answer your question, a friend and I were heading into Central Park when we were stopped by someone keeping people back. That's when we noticed they were filming something. My friend asked what it was and the guy told her it was a movie. We can't remember the name of it though. Another time, also in New York, they were filming an Easter special with Debbie (this was back in the 80's, before she decided Deborah was better) Gibson. She was on a boat and we were on the pier, taking shots while they filmed. During breaks my grandmother, who had no idea who she was, would call her name so I could get better pics. Debbie would turn and wave. If we had arrived just a few minutes earlier, I could've been on that boat with her. But I'm happy to just have been there.

Like I said, they said that was one of the last legs of the race. Probably because only a small handful of teams showed up at that pitstop (probably 4). So the show finished in May. They should be finished editing soon. Hopefully it will start airing in September before the new "regular" season starts in October. We have had a few tv shows and movies filmed in our area (small town north of Toronto) but I never ran into them unfortunately. Lucky for you!

Heoo Sweets That's cool for them. I have never watched the show but my friend does. I hear it's interesting. I have a fear of heights and I don't even like to watch people dangle in the air so I don't watch. xoxoxoxoxo

Wow, that would be something to see. I do not usually watch the show, but if I thought it was something that someone I knew had seen happen live, I would want to know when that particular episode would be on, so that I could see it. I've never stumbled into a situation like that. it would be interesting to have that happen.

That was last season and I did keep a close eye out when they arrived at the pitstop in Russia but didn't notice anything. And they weren't really people I know. It was an article in the Toronto Star... not sure whether the writer is a regular columnist or a "special to the Star".

That is neat. I think it would be great to see myself in the background of a show or a movie. I remember when I was a kid, a sotre had a sale going on. My mom and dad went to that store to make a purchase. I seen them in the store when the sale aired on television. I thought that was so neat. they were stars for a minute.

Hi patgalca! Wow, that is really cool! I will be in awe if I will see the Amazing Race while they are filming. It will be something I will be talking about for days and days until they tired listening to me. haha..That will be really cool! However, I have never chanced upon any movie or tv filming/shooting. I think it will be nice to witness one. Take care and God Bless!

Though there have been several movies filmed at least in part near here, I was never fortunate enough to see any of it. That does sound like an awesome experience though.
