long time at repair shop

My son has a Honda Prelude that has been off the road for about 8 months. A month and half ago we had our local repair shop come and pick it up so that they could put it on the machine to see what is wrong with it. When I went up there to ask about them doing it they told me that it should take no more than half to an hour to diagnose it. Well its been over a month and we have heard nothing. We have called up there several times to check on it but they keep saying they are just sooo busy and short handed that they havent had a chance to look at it. I think they are just putting us off since we didnt say that we wanted THEM to fix it. I want to go and get the car and take it somewhere else. My son says that since they have worked on it before and he paid to have it towed up there and will have to pay to have it towed somewhere else he would rather have them look at it first. What would you do in this situation? Go up there and raise H***? Leave it there and let them take their time with it? What are your thoughts on this??

Get it out of there and fast. I had a car in a repair facility and I had to take it to court to get it back. I is a classic car and was to take 4-5 months to finish at an estimate of 4900 dollars. 5 years later I get a bill for 11,000 dollars with no prior update on the cost. Took 2 years to get thru the courts.

OMG ! you have got to be kidding me ! ! How in the world did it go from $4900 to $11,000? That is just crazy ! I told my son Friday that I would give them (the repair shop) until Wednesday of this week and then we are going to go and get it. I even asked the girl when i called up there last week if they were going to start charging us storage fees. She laughed and assured me that they werent.

I have told them (the repair shop) that the only thing that i want them to do is to tell my its not running and how much its going to cost to get it running again. The car hasnt moved since the tow truck dropped it off there, but dont worry, when/if they finally do look at it I will be given a written extimate before I allow anything to be done to it. Thank you for sharing your experience with me :-)

The repair facilty is a crook as far as I am concerned. We asked every couple of months for an update to the estimate because it seemed as though they were doing more work than what we authorized. They said no increase in the cost. When we took them to court, they told the court we knew about everything that they had done. Just be carefull and don't believe anything. Get everything they in writing.

I think if you want to have a car you shouldn't care of it.It's very comman for the one who has car.
