The INDONESIANS know how to deal with TERRORISTS!

I completely agree with their methods. My idea of being tough on crime is to actually punish the criminals, not lock them up to be fed and allowed to watch TV, lift weights, and all of that other cushy life things they enjoy at our expense. If a crime requires Capital Punishment, then do so... swiftly and publicly... as a deterent and warning to others. Everything else should be hard labor... or maybe public floggings ... whatever it tales to make crime expensice and unappealing to the criminals.

I do wonder why we do not use the lessons that John "Blackjack" Pershing taught us. During the Philippine-American war American soldiers were being attacked by Philippine Moro Muslim guerrillas. Pershing commanding the US troops order captured Muslim guerrillas to be shot with a bullet dipped into pig fat and then buried underneath a pig. Now I know that sound harsh but let us remember that Muslims believe that touching a pig makes them unclean and will prevent them from going to heaven. That means no virgins, and no reason to get yourself killed.

Indonesia is one of the most populated Muslim nations yet it is also a progressive, flourishing nation and this piece of news amply proves why. I do believe that Indonesians have truly succeeded in separating the mosque and the government. Even today in their various national promos, they depict dance and drama from their Hindu past which they are not ashamed of. They may have embraced Islam but they know what their culture and heritage is. They also know how important tourism and other allied industries are to put food daily into the mouth of average Indonesians. They have acted with determination and strong willpower and I hope other Islamic nations take a lesson from them. In the process, they are also projecting Islam as a religion that has no place for terrorists and killers of innocent people.
