We have always grown green beans, but next year we are planning to grow wax beans also. A friend, down the street, gave us some the other night. I boiled them, added butter and sea salt. They were so good!!!! I like them better then green beans!!!

Hmmmm...I'm going to have to add green beans to my container garden next year. Ldyjarhead has a great container garden going this summer. From what she has been talking about with her tomatoes and cucumbers, it has inspired me, that's for sure!!!!

Add wax beans to your list! If you like green beans you will love them. Yes, Ldyjarhead does have a great garden going. It is our first year with our greenhouse, and we have had lots of yummy veggies. Our lopes are just coming in. Our corn should be ready in a week or two. Thanks for the response.

When I was at work last night, I made a short list of what I want to put in my container garden next summer. I want to grow tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, green beans, wax beans, zuchinni, and maybe sugar peas. When the store where I work has a sale in the garden center, I'll have to get some of the larger plant pots.

I have always been a fan of green beans even though my wife doesn't like them. I have never heard of wax beans before... what are they and where can I find them? Thanks Zelo

You can get them at farmers markets or Del Monte sells them in cans. Wax beans are yellow. Here is a link: http://www.delmonte.com/Products/VegetableItem.asp?id=164&size=188&ptp=167 These have a much different taste, have her try them. All we added was butter and sea salt! Yummy! I could make a meal out of them.

I've never grown wax beans, but always grow green beans and then let some mature for dried beans. I remember eating wax beans long ago, but don't remember what they taste like. I'll have to get some from the farmer's market and try them.

I'm not recalling the taste differences in these two kinds of beans: green beans versus wax beans. I have always loved green beans. And, I eat wax beans (the yellow ones, right?) when they are available and I like them also. Guess you will be having a whole mess of them next year! Happy planting!

I've never grown beans of any sort. I might try some sometime. THis fall I am going to try to grown broccoli for the first time. I buy alot of it from the store it is really good for you, so I think growing some is a good idea. It is a fall cool weather crop.
