I strongly suggest you type all your posts in Notepad or Word, then copy-paste it into the submission box. MyLot seems to be having technical difficulties again, and I had to login three times just to get one post to go through.
If you have yet to reach 500 posts, I feel for you in the meantime. I wanted to walk away from myLot more than once in the past, after sitting and typing for a good half-hour, only to find that myLot had forgotten my login information, and all my work was down the drain.
So remember your Notepad if you have 500 posts. And if you're not there, hurry up and get there! Happy myLotting!

I'm far from that threshold, but even I have to relog because of that so called technical difficulties. Anyway nice count 1747? You got a big mind there. Ok Happy myLotting too!.

Oh tell me about getting logged out!! I am so sick of having to log in again and AGAIN!!! Anyway, I've reached the stage now where I automatically copy what I've typed before I post it just in case I get that irritating log in screen after I submit the comment.
I've tried ticking the "remember me" box but it doesn't seem to make any difference. It must be so annoying for those with less than 500 posts.

I had that problem yesterday and for some reason after I signed in, my response was still so I had not lost it. Must of been a glitch but thanks for the heads up.

Ooh, that's strange. You've got nearly 700 now, so you'd think it would let you by now! What happens when you try? Is it still giving you the message about how you can't copy and paste until you reach 500 posts? If so then something's gone a bit wrong and maybe you should contact myLot.

i havent reach 500 posts yet. my progress is really slow, but i know, am getting there.. very soon. hehehe guess, i'll just have to participate more in the discussions. i am currently working and i can only post around 10 or less a day..but come my day off i'll post as much as i can and earn as much as i can as well. for me, there are no better ways spending free time than being here in mylott. you get to interact, hone your writing skills and best of all, you get to earn!!that's just cool!:)

Hi Santuccie, they have put a timer now in this site, probably to discourage malicious individuals from exploiting open connection. So this auto-logout is actually for our protection and like any anti-malicious things the normal user take the extra burden.
What I did here is check the remember me check box when I log in so that it will not ask me every time. Now this is my dilemma, if my assumption is right did I render the protection useless? I do log out when I turn my browser off. But there are times that I leave my browser on for a long period.

In this case, I don't think it was security related. I had typed out a post in Notepad, and was trying to paste it into the submission box. I would login, and when I went to paste, I would get the 500 post bit. I had to re-login three times before it went through. It's a bug.
This was the first time I ever experienced something like this, and it hasn't happened since I started the discussion. But myLot has a history, and this problem was present when I was a newbie, before I'd reached 500 posts. And the "remember me" box doesn't seem to fix the problem in my case. Fortunately, since I've reached 500 posts, I have a safety net. Thanks for the response!

That's also the reason why I want to get to 500 posts as fast as I can. I like to type my texts in another program than directly on a website, but MyLot doesn't allow it. Oh well, still 90 posts to go and I'll be able to do it.

You can do that too, but when you're done, at least copy everything to the clipboard. That way, if the unexpected should happen after you've spent half an hour typing a nice, long post; you won't be pulling your hair out.

I have never once had a problem with this in all of my more than 3000 posts here on myLot. I think myLot is so large that it has more than one server, because I notice a lot of the time when people have a problem with things like this, there are others of us that have no problem whatsoever. I'm thinking that one (some?) servers may be having a problem and others are not.
If you continue to have the problem, try logging out of myLot and logging back in again. You might get on a different server and possibly solve the problem.

You're right. I'm sure myLot has more than one server in order to accommodate up to 137,460 users. The only kind of server I know of than can handle several thousand requests from moment to moment is a DNS server, and that's just to resolve URLs to IP addresses.
The "remember me" checkbox helps a lot (although it's not foolproof), but in the meantime, I fortunately have my fail-safe. Thanks for the response!

I think you are right about the servers. I never used to have that problem...until the last upgrade. Now it keeps me logged on all day some days and other days it logs me out several times a day. I have learned to glance up at the upper left corner of my screen now before I post anything to be sure I am still logged in. That makes it unnecessary to type my post first in Word and then copy/paste it later into Mylot. It has caught me off guard a couple of times, but usually not as it is a habit now.

Oh gods, it is extremely annoying when I find that an extremely long post of mine was eaten up in the posting process. I remember just a few hours ago I posted attempting to help someone resolve problems with meta tags on their website, and I discovered that myLot refused to accept html tags. (They could just encode the less than and greater than signs instead of stripping them out altogether!) It erased my entire post and I had to rewrite it all over again (as I hadn't thought I would need to save).

I will do that when myLot has its difficulties. Right now with all my tabs open, I do not want to write on notepad more than i have to, because I use notetab and it has tabs as well. I have myLot open all the time, so I do not have to log in. What I do is that I use Firefox. So far the technical difficulties have not occurred, but I will keep Notetab open when it does happen.

I've been doing this since I hit the 500 mark! I lost a few discussions and responses when I was below 500, which I found very frustrating especially when I put a lot of effort into my posts. I too wanted to walk away from mylot because of it, but I stuck with it, and before I knew it I was allowed to copy and paste.

And isn't it great to be here? Friends have gotten me to join PaidForum, DormCheck, Yuwie...even MySpace. Every one of them is so impersonal compared to myLot. It's hardly perfect, and less so IMO since the "upgrade." But it just doesn't get any better than this.

thanks for the advice however i do not have any such problem I have crossed 500 posts and its fine. Could it be the net connection that is giving such a problem or is it my lot? well to be on the safe side i do think it is a good idea.

Hi,
It's myLot. Session cookies last longer if you check the "remember me" checkbox, but every now and then it just fumbles. If my Internet connection cuts out for a moment, the bubble pops up upon restoration. And that happens maybe once a day, if that.

I have a long way to go. I think it will take a long time for me to reach 500 posts. But thanks for the tip anyway. Once i reach the 500 posts mark and I am able to copy paste, I will definitely remember what you said. By the way, how long did it take for you to reach 500 posts mark? For me I am not even half way. I guess I may need few more months to reach that level.

Ooh, I don't remember. I think I reached it within the first month or two. A helpful strategy is to check your interests tab. I could go help out a bunch of people in the computer forums if nothing else looked good.
It's been over a year since I joined, possibly close to two years. I'm busier now than I was then, so I've slowed down a bit. But I make the time when I can. Happy myLotting!

I feel very lucky that I'm not having these problems. I suppose I'm not leaving myLot idle for very long, maybe that's why. It must be very frustrating to lose posts and have to type them over and over again. But if I find it happening to me I'll remember what you said and start using Notepad. I like your encouragement; "hurry up and get there!" - that made me laugh

yes its been very frustrating for me.. about 3 times now i lost a discussion, i couldnt be bothered to have to type it out again so i gave up..
i understand this copy paste rule due to spammers, but come on, i think 500 posts is a bit much, surely by time you got as many as me with star that should be good enough to show i am good mylotter 
i wanted to help someone with a url to a good site that needed and i couldn't even copy it into here as it was too long.
Anyway at moment i am just sticking with responding. i still have some time to go before i reach 500. Finding it hard at times to even find a discussion to respond to

I agree with you. I usually just respond as well; I haven't started very many discussions of my own. And this is my very first discussion that has gotten more than 20 responses!
Like you, I can't respond to just anything. I have to be somewhat interested. Thankfully, there's over 100,000 people here. Check out your interests tab and see what you find. Happy myLotting!
