If given a chance to take in the best of all religions and start only one new universal religion, would you go ahead. No other religion but this, the best doctrines of all grouped to form one religion. All religions lead to the same goal, so would you go with it.

I commend your meshing of continuous improvement with religion. Religions have too much baggage for this kind of thing though. The widely accepted tenants are widely accepted because they transcend religion. They are secular in nature. The mere fact you ask this question alludes to your understanding that the important elements of religions are not their superstitions. The useful parts are uncoupled from religion. This is why an atheist has just as much statistical chance to be an upstanding citizen as a theist, and in some cases more so. Personally, I would hope more people would see they no longer have need of dogma and doctrine....instead, I wish more people would make up their own minds independently. That said, it is completely their choice to do whatever seems right to them. In order to enforce one religion, or even no religion, you would have to take away personal freedoms. I would never endorse that.

Firstly, I would never enforce any religion on a person. I just meant, all religions disappear leaving only the best principles of all religions, group them together and hope people follow these best of the best doctrines. When there is only one Universal religion, there are no wars or terrorist attacks in the name of religion, for no religion ever ever teaches its followers to harm.

The time is coming when Jesus(pbuh)will come to this world again to unite all believers in one universal faith i.e Islam. He will also create the first IDEAL WORLD STATE on this earth to fill it with peace, prosperity and justice.......There is no doubt about these things..............There will be only one universal religion in this world, which I have already mentioned above.

I am not talking of any one particular religion. I am talking of Universal love and brotherhood, where my religion is better than yours or convert etc. etc. are not there. Just plain humanity and love for one Omnipotent God and His presence in all human beings.

And who is going to sit and decide which elements are good and which are not worth keeping? I bet we will have to create a committee for that. And it will take another thousand years just to create a committee. And once the committee is created, I bet they will wrangle till there are a few days left for doomsday. I am sure they won't be able to come to an agreement about which are the best points and which are the worst. And even if they do, it might happen that I wouldn't agree with them, neither would the millions of people who are not aware what went on within the committee. Ultimately, it would end up being the committee's religion, not one universal religion. God is a private affair... LOL.. I prefer to find my own way to God.. no religion for me, universal or otherwise. Cheers and happy mylotting

You have made this out to be a merry go round. lol. Yes, what you say has a lot of stuff, but would you not take up principles of love, understanding, not harming, etc. These would be easily accepted by one and all. I am not talking of mumbling prayers, just following the best doctrines of religion and believing in an omnipotent God.

ketybhagat, the loving principles you speak of do not require, and are more easily acheived, without a god. Tell me, why would an omnipotent God, or any other kind, be necessary in any way?

You are absolutely right draven! Why do you need a universal religion in the first place to follow all those principles? Cheers

Humanism is the only religion I've ever encountered that doesn't have any 'ugly stuff', so if it had to be one, it would be that, or something much like it.

Why have a god at all? No need.

If one follows the principle of humanity, everything gets covered in it. No infighting, that my religion is better or follow my religion or conversion etc. One omnipotent God who resides in the form of humanity.

Look up Jainism, it's the religion for you. There's a good song by Ziggy Marley....."Love is my religion"

Exactly, all religons reach the same goal. and yet there is war and fighting in the name of religion. If only one Universal religion survives with the best of all religions put together, like love, understanding, not harming, life would be so much more peaceful. I am not talking of mumbling prayers, just believing in the gooodnes of everybody and ONE Omnipotent God.

I wouldn't. I would much prefer that people have the capacity for critical thought and use that to make their decisions instead of relying on religious dogma. It wouldn't be reasonable for one religion (and in this case, the creator) to make decisions for everyone else when they are unable to see the circumstances others are in. Moreover, if religion is about creating rules for people to follow, I'd rather shy away from that. Can we not instead teach people to think for themselves? Can we not force them to blindly follow rules? Critical thought, I believe, is more important than creating a set of immutable rules.

Plain love for fellow humans is called secular humanism. It's not a religion though, it's a way of life that explores morality and the rest of the "human condition" using critical thinking instead of magical thinking. Leave the superstition behind and learn to live together peacefully. I'm not saying that a lack of superstition is going to lead to utopia. Far from it. We'd have to get rid of all our other negative ideologies too. Take a look-see.

I jsut believe that Humanity is the main essence of all religions, not harming a fellow human, showing love to all and most important, no my religion is better than yours or convert etc. etc. Plain love for fellow humans.

If Jesus were to lead me to join a one universal religion I suppose I might. A decision like that shouldn't be taken lightly and I would approach it with prayer, time, Bible reading and a lot of thought. I most certainly wouldn't join because everyone else was or because someone told me I should. Besides, I'm not all that interested in "religion". I'm happy with my personal relationship with Christ so I don't have to worry about following an organized religion.

This is exactly what I mean. No one religion is better than the other or one particular prophet will lead the world. I just want basic humanity, love for fellow human beings and not harming another in the name of religion to be the goal of this Universal religion. Maybe someday, somebody will be born who will not represent any of todays religions and just start with the best of all the religons and lead.
