When family go on holiday its customary to send a postcard to your nearest and dearest. When you send a postcard are you a scenery person,or do you like a saucy one,or just a downright filthy one??????....

My mother would greatly appreciate a filthy card!!and thats true..she has a trmendous sense of humour, but lol its very rare that I send them, and nowadays its a very rare occasion that I go very far without her!!but saying that, she is adorable,so it suits me fine.

Hey ruby, I'd sat I usually go with the scenic ones. I don't usually find the filthy ones anyway. I guess I'm not traveling to the right places. Where do you go? Maybe I need some advice

Its becoming clear Opal ,lol that you dont frequent the right kind of places!!you dont come across rude cards??well I never, the next thing you are going to tell me is that you have never bought a stick of rock!!im no great lover of rock, though the Edinburgh rock isnt to bad,you will have to keep your wits about you when you are out and about and see if you can see any!!But dont you remeber when all the saucy cards were the thing?and we as children used to try to sneak a look at them and have a goog giggle!!they were funny..but the scenic ones are fine, and pretty.

I didn't say I never saw naughty cards, just not naughty post cards on vacation. Now what is a stick of rock? I'm American, we must have a different word for it! This is so fun! Ruby, tell me what it is so I can laugh

Was that the one o St Denys convent?or the one of the Obelisk?..I can remember posting them, but I cant remember which ones I sent to you!but lol I give you my word there is nothing even remeotely dangerous about Warminster, the old town still looks the same...as we step down from the plane...sorry...but its becoming a little bit of a ghost type town now,and to think how many years we lived there!!you probably wouldnt remember at all ,but there were two sisters called the Misses Waylens..and they had a little sweetie come toy shop, very near to the Athaneum, and they were sisters...well it was the type of shop that you went in to .bought what you wanted and then added the value up yourself!!and if they gave you a few pence too much change then you would give it back to them!!Also I remember what was Terry Bishops the fish and fruit shop at the bottom of the town, and now lol that is a pub called The Organ..hubby went in ,I gave it a miss.

I have just been looking at some postcard collections on Ebay, and Amazon, there are also some postcard auctions held at the very big auction houses like Southebys in London. The main postcard producers ,well one of them is Raphael Tuck ,they were a Witltshire based company.

Valentines cards were another large company, but thats interesrting because Raphael Tuck was based i nthe little town where I used to live, there was a very busy factory there,my sister worked there for a while and lol every card that was ever sent for any birthday or christmas was one fro mthat factory, but lol they were good times.

Postcards used to be the thing, and my mum and dad always used to start the holiday off by going and buying some postcards. They were chosen pretty carefully and each card was chosen with a special person in mind, well the time that they used to take choosing them was long and we as kids used to huff and puff waiting for them. But the cards were then chosen, and they had then to be written out,a fountain pen used to come out of Dads top inside pocket, there were no ballpoints used then, and the ink cartidge used to be checked ,and a drop squirted from the end of it,and in his good handwriting he would write his little messages, they were always much the same, sun good here, sea is lovley,we were in the water today, the food is good, and the beds are clean, then it would be followed by something like wish you were here, which lol wasnt true .But the cards were chosen with love and affection, and each card was chosen for one person in particular.

I usually try to find one with a row of lovely bums on show. You must have seen that type of postcard? It is pretty international. It gives my friends a bit of pleasure and the postman too. haha

I am more than sure that our post person lol being politically correct here...knows as much about our household as we do ,as im more than sure lol that they monitor the mail that drops on everynes doormat!!and if someone sent me a racy card well I would laugh and think Oh well the postie musyt have enjoyed that one!!but I always tend to have a look at the postcards to see if there are any hilarious ones!and usually there are.

Oh ,well dont be,the majority of folk are quite content to recieve something a little bit funny..its only the Hyacinth Bouquets of this life who may not appreciate that sort of card!!so then just for the records,do you often recieve a racy one then?
