i have some pictures on my computer and i have noticed that my computer slows down a little bit and i have a lot of pictures on there and i have heard from a few friends that if you have a lot of pictures on your computer that they will take a lot of room on your computer...and that it can slow it down and that its good to get them off...i don't know if this is true or not because i am not an expert on any of this at all so i was just wondering what you all think...do you think that this sounds right...does this make sense? thanks for taking the time to read my discussion and i hope that you all have a great day!

Your pictures shouldn't slow down your computer that much. After all, your pictures are stored in your ROM whereas the speed of actions you perform on your computer is determined by its RAM. These are wholly different things, so if your computer is slow, it's most likely due to insufficient RAM. Having more pictures won't affect its speed.

Not really no. We have quite a few to be sure. But we periodically put them on disk to save them. Better to be safe than sorry. You never know when something will happen to your computer.

let me ask a couple of questions first. 1 how big is your hard drive? 2 how much free space is on your hard drive 3 how much Ram do you have yes the pictures can cause your computer to slow down as more space is used on your computer, This is particaly due to the swap file that is used, a swap file is where you have more than one program open at a time the system will swap your program that is not in use to the hard drive for easy access this continually happens. With not much space on the HD more stays in RAM and will slow down your system

I do keep some in my album on my computer, but touch the wood it doesnt seem to slow the computer down at all, sometimes I have noticed that Mylot is a slow loading site, and its often good to use two windows in conjunction. But I definately wouldnt say that the picture album impairs perfomance with my computer.

i collect a lot of online artwork and yes my computer does tend to get pretty full. What i like to do is take a CD and burn the picks onto it and delete what i have in my computer to save space. that way I'm not completely overrunning my computer.

No,jhl930,pictures are always very small and it won't slow down your computer obviously unless you stored billions of images in your rom.I think it is impossible, right? In my computer, there are also a lot of images but they are even smaller then a 5 minutes video file.Yes,I have stored many video files in my computer and the number is still increasing. They almost take 120G!Sounds surprising, right? But I have two hard disks so I don't br afriad of whether my computer will slow down for these treasure, yes I think the video files are treasure to me.Thank you to reading my long paragraph and have a lovely day! P.S. I think maybe you can check your computer with some tool softwares and anti-virus,because both junk files and viruses will slow down your computer.

pictures doesn't slow down your computer. They're not programs runningin the background. They're just files stored on the hard drive and ready to be accessed. Pictures can take lots of space.it all depends on the resolution of the pictures. With high resoultion camera you can get good quality pictures, but the size of pictures can be big.

I have over 3000 pictures on my computer. I am currently saving all my old pictures to my computer so they can be saved on discs and I can share them with family and friends. I don't have a bit of trouble with my computer being slow because of the pictures. If your computer is slow, it is probably because of your RAM memory. It probably needs to be increased. You might also try cleaning out cookies and temp files and such. There are a lot of different things that can make your computer run slowly but I don't believe it is pictures.

Pictures does take a lot of space and normally do not affect the performance unless you move around pictures like add and delete a lot and you have small free space left in your hard disk. If this is the case then there is bigger chance that the files will be fragmented. Other than this you could suspect other files that is causing the slow down.

Hello dear jhl. I have also many photos in my computer. When I have got too many, I move and upload them to my mobile hardware. I won't delete them until they are in my mobile hardware. But as to the space occupied by the photos, I think that they do occupy a lot of space and will make the speed a little slower, when it is being opened, but not after the computer is switched on. Have a good day, jhl.

Usually programs that are running will slow down your computer. But also it does depend on how many pictures you have on it to. I remember that I had about 500 pictures on my computer and it seemed to run slow. I save them to disk, it also keeps the pics safe in case the computer crashes.

It is usually programs that slow your computer down rather than files. However it depends on the memory you have. Why don't you burn your photos onto a disk? Have you done the usual disk scan, antivirus check and antispyware scan?
