I love Harry Potter movies but there's no doubt that I prefer to read the books. The books are more descriptive than the movies ;)

I still prefer reading the books than watching the movies. In the movies usually, they remove really good scenes that are in the book. But it is still good to see the book that you're reading come to life in the big screen. I think that when you watch the movie, you should also read the book. It really helps to understand the movie more if you have read it.

I prefer to read the series. I understand the story better. Sometimes the movie is not that accurate. But it's great to watch the movie also, you get to see how the characters come to life and all the magic and special effects.

I like the books better because the movies are too edited that some portions of the book are no in the movie and sometimes they dont do justice to the characters they play. I mean aside from the main characters the others were in my opinion not properly casted. For example in the book sirius was described as charismatic and charming he looked nothing of the sort in the movie. Cho Chang was supposed to be this very beautiful asian girl that was harry's first crush and it just didn't meet the expectations.

While it's always fun to watch how moviemakers translate a story to the giant screen, you always feel there are parts missing from the original book. The Harry Potter series is no exception. I love watching the movies, but I enjoy reading the book version more because it is a wonderful exercise for the imagination. And besides, there are not many storytellers who can keep you hooked to one book as J.K. Rowling.

Reading harry potter books and watching it is a different experience. I love reading it because it's more detailed in the book while when you watch it, you have the whole picture of it. The graphics they have is amazing! I suggest that after reading, you watch the equivalent to that or vice versa. It's much much better to do both.

I prefer to read first before watching the movie. Friends lend me their books, I cant buy one for my own, Harry Potter books here in my country are expensive and I cant afford to buy one, so friends lend me their books. I was able to read from book 1 to book 6. for the movie, I was able to watch from 1 up to the last one. and right now, I am looking forward to be able to buy the books and dvd's

I think of the movies as little picture books to accompany the real novels. They are not quite faithful to the books but give an idea of the storyline. It is neat to see the characters though. The actors are visually right for the parts also. But the movies don't compare to the great character development the books offer. If someone only watched the movies they might not understand the full appeal of Harry Potter.
