yes it is a very expensive hobby because if you buy a really good 35 mm digital camera and you buy a few good lenses for the camera, it can really run up. it can get to be a very expensive hobby but most definitely a very fun one.

it's not an expensive hobby if you buy one digital camera,of course if you like to do some professional work it will be very expensive to keep a good camera and more lens.

i also like photography very much and i could say that photography is not that expensive compared to when it was years back then. i hope that you will not lose hope in your hobby and would continue doing what you like best...capturing the beauty around you. please do share with us your works and hope that in the future it will be an instrument to make you a blessing to others especially those who wants to take up photography but could not afford.

Hi Shiloh, I do agree that Photography is an expensive hobby, if you are really into it. With the professional camera being readily available to all kinds of consumers, one can get the highest quality of camera and accessories in certain stores. And if one will really invest in photography, well one will not really be contented in just buying a "mediocre" model or a product. Of course one will want to buy the best in the line of the products that is available. And with technology rising up fast, what is the top of the line product may easily be replaced anytime. For me I want to buy new gear for the camera but I am limited by the budget. I do hope someday I'll be able to buy all that I wanted for photography!

It is extremely expensive! I've spent thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars on my cameras, lenses, flashes, filters, tripods, bags, memory cards etc. And that doesn't even include spending money on computers or editing programs such as Photoshop! And that's just what I've bought so far! In the future I plan on purchasing studio lighting, backgrounds, etc. so I expect to spend a lot more money on that! One day I would love to own a digital medium format camera... which can cost well over $40,000! So yes... photography is an extremely expensive hobby!
