When we first reached London, after dropping off our luggage at the hotel, we headed to the first place on our list. The first place we headed to was the St Paul's Cathedral. (you can view more of my London Pictures from here -- http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1606974.aspx) And the first view that greeted us is the one attached. This guy was just lying there. At first we thought that he was some art piece that was placed there for all to admire. Then I realized that he was moving. And looking around, I saw the water bottle and some pieces of leftover wrapper from lunch. Man... this fella is actually sleeping! Taking a nap after lunch! And under the hot sun in his suit too! We were amused. Never would we ever see such a thing happening back home. So it was really interesting to see. Have you been travel ling around and saw something that fascinated you? What is it?

wow this guy is sleeping in his suit! that's really amazing considering the heat. i not really been to a lot of places and i definitely have not seen anything like this. however, i've seen something that amazes me when i was in japan. i was at the plum garden in osaka. it's basically a huge garden with plum trees only. we went there during the plum season so all the trees are blooming. it's really a beautiful sight to withhold. everybody is sitting under a tree having a sweet sake. it's definitely a working day as most of the people there are either too young or too old to work. it amazes me as this will not happen here at home. just sitting under the tree, admiring the blooms and doing nothing else. my fellow countrymen will most probably be blasting music or fidgeting with their handhelds.

i was actually there during winter. didn't expect to see the plum garden as i've only heard about people going to japan for the sakura blossom. it's really amazing to see so many plum trees, all in different colours and hues. lovely way to spend a lazy afternoon under the trees. in fact, we followed the locals and got ourselves sweet sake to drink under the trees. i did upload a picture but it didn't come out. in fact, almost all the pictures i've uploaded for my responses didn't turn out. i don't know why but i'm still trying. in fact, i've uploaded a picture with this reply as well. hopefully it'll turn out fine. cheers ;p

haha that's interesting. I thought you were talking about the homeless in london initially. there are many of them also, selling the Big Issue, a newspaper that is meant for them to sell to get some income instead of being totally reliant on begging. well, what I've seen that's interesting in Spain is that they usually have pairs of street acrobats. usually they operate alone, but in Spain it seems that they have one person performing and one person holding out the hat. I guess they take turns to perform. Something else that probably happens in London that is very different from Singapore is that when people see a patch of sun, they go and stand in it. in Singapore we go and stand in whatever slim piece of shade there is, whether it's from the shadow of the traffic light or a lamp post!

Yah, I noticed that too when I was in Europe. The Caucasians seems to love the sun a lot! In my tour group, besides me and my wife, there is another fellow singaporean as well. Whenever we stop for a break, you will always find the three of us under the shade, enjoying the cool breeze. The rest of the group will be basking in the sun, soaking up its rays. The difference in culture is really obvious!

I saw some people in our street lying in the basement during night and day. They are making the street their home. Actually,it's worsening here in our country.

I am sure those are the ones who cannot afford a home. That is why they are resorting to living in the streets. Who wouldn't want to go back to a nice warm bed at the end of the day when you can? The one in the picture is in a tie and a suit. It seems that he is just taking a nap on the grass. I rarely see that of office workers here. That is why I find it amusing to see him lying there taking a nap. Not caring about the people staring or moving about him.
