I made some Stuffed pepper soup yesterday for dinner and it was very good. Sometimes this leads to heart burn... What do you take for heart burn. I am really interested in some natural ways. Maybe with herbs...

I may be too late to help your peppers, but you will know for next time. If you have nothing when your heartburn hits, my Dad used to mix some baking soda in a glass of water & then drink it down fast. He'd let out one HUGE belch then he'd be fine after that. If my memory serves me right, baking soda doesn't taste very good but it beats the pain of Heart Burn. Another MORE NATURAL remedy is to drink a cup of orange juice (or another acidy juice) with a touch of salt. The theory is the acid neutralizes your out of whack stomach acids (doesn't make sense....but it does work for me). Finally, I find if I eat something a lil salty (popcorn, pretzels, etc) that the Heart Burn just goes away. Potato Chips don't work as they greasy & that will irritate the problem. Hope these help!!!

I get heartburn from pretty much anything I eat or drink so I carry Zantac around with me everywhere I go. It really works fast for me and takes care of the heartburn right away. If there was another way, I would gladly try it. It's interesting reading some of these responses. :)

hello,Louise! Yours was a case of hyper-acidity.Acidity can be caused by improper eating habits such as:-eating fast foods or large, fatty meals, which include fried foods, excessive pepper and spices,You are saying that you had pepper soup the other day and that had caused the acid influx into the food pipe for which you felt the heart burn.In such conditions, you just drink cold water in every one hour intervals. henceforth avoid lying down shortly after meals as this can promote reflux of foods with acid into the food pipe and cause heart burn, eat small volumes of meals at intervals rather than large meals, regular aerobics help to minimise acid influx.as you have acid problem in your stomach you do this and get relieved of heart burn. thanx.
